The Lyrics

England. Tournament footy. Assuming we progress, it's going to extra time & penalties again, isn't it? (Disclaimer:- it's just a comedy name - my wife & I'd like to state, there's no offence/confusion intended...that I'm NOT one of "them"!)
Extra time may come
Here, but now it's gone
Germans don't fear the 'keeper
Nor Portuguese, Italians or Spain
We can be like they are

Come on, England! (don't fear the 'keeper)
You can take a pen' (don't fear the 'keeper)
Do I not like to cry (don't fear the 'keeper)
Penalties again

Ahh! la la, la, la
Ahh! la la, la, la

Extra time has come
Here, but now it's gone
Place the ball & don't forget
Or regret it for eternity (place the ball & don't forget)
1 in 4 in England play as amateurs (can place the ball & don't forget)
1 in 4 in England, though they're amateurs (know where the goal is)
1 in 4 in England practice everyday (you can be like they are)

Come on, England! (don't fear the 'keeper)
You can take a pen' (don't fear the 'keeper)
Do I not like to cry (don't fear the 'keeper)
Penalties again

Ahh! la la, la, la
Ahh! la la, la, la

Extra time had come
Here, but now it's gone
' goes our best hope, off injured
'cos it was clear that he couldn't go on

When the door was opened, so did he appear
The Ref'ree blew & then he appeared
The England flags flew when he appeared
& he wasn't afraid

Come on, England! (& he showed no fear)
& they ran to him (& we started to cry)
Behind a lion, a lioness (you can become like they are)
You converted your pen' (you will become like they are)
Come on, England! (don't fear the 'keeper)
(11.11.22) Since 2018, the UK music buying public have made their Xmas #1 a 5th consecutive parody (now a record, surpassing the Beatles). Often, a new artist can announce their arrival with a particularly good cover, made uniquely their own. I'm no singer nor musician, so if you can perform this (or any of mine), please send me a version & lots of royalties!
