This is in the same vein as JAB's recent parodies about linguistic phenomena, except in this case, I'll be going for the jugular (ba doom tssh!) Ok, if not the jugular, how 'bout the glottular. .... I'm talking about the our old friend, the glottal stop; the noise that Cockney and Scottish dialects make to replace the a perfectly good "t" in such phrases as "a li'l bi' of wa'er." This consonant, which is also found in Hawaiian words, such as "Hawai'i" is basically an unvoiced version of hard "g" .... The same dialects drop their "h's", but not 100% sure if they replace it with the glottal stop

*Received Pronunciation -- English as spoken in the media; The Queen's English ....... *A less extreme form of Cockney appears to be cropping up in the Thames Estuary area

You guys should watch "Outlander" on Starz! Lots of Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig), Scots, and Scottish English. The Scots language and Scottish English should not be confused with Scottish Gaelic, of course!
Some years back, a young lady on her high school quiz bowl team and I were "speaking" in Scots brogue-which, of course, neither of us had the privilege of being Scots. Anyway, i asked her, "Lass, whurr di' ye larrrnnn to speak s'good Scots?" To which she replied, "Ach,, fra' Braveheart!" Aye!
