Original Song Title:

"Kung Fu Fighting"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Offshore Banking"

Parody Written by:

Peter Andersson a.k.a K1chyd

The Lyrics

...and for Bernie; perfect timing...

A YouTube version of the original song can currently be found here.
Everybody was offshore banking
Now the whole branch is tanking
An act of tax evade and hiding
But another leak's enlightening

There are dollars, pounds and yen
In Panama downtown
There are dough from startups
There are dough from renowns
There's an offshore a la carte
That now a teller's taken 'part
With a history sized leak
And a clearing so to speak

Even Putin's offshore banking
Transparency's now flanking
in as the laws keep on tightening
And the one-percenters' whitening

There's now tempest on Finns
And Britons taking dung
And in Iceland the big boss'
forced to move on
All those accounts in foreign hand
Known as druglord wonderland
So many state heads has been clipped
Will voters give them all the slip

Every fat cat's offshore banking
So cries the outrage-spanking
It's one-o-one in journalism
And their south-of-borderism

*the song fades as reader interest falls*
25%... 10%... 5%... 2%... 0,5%...
*evasion continues*

For one thing, Jonathan, there wasn't a sufficient set up for my joke when you posted your comment. Only two people had posted the same thought. Once a third person said the same thing, there was a distinct pattern that started the wheels spinning in my brain. There really is something to the "rule of threes" in comedy.

"A man, a plan, a cad, a canal; Panama." Also, "Less evasion evade, Dave. 'No' is a vessel." Do you have a third one, CML, or anyone else?

My dad, who was a devout Catholic, was a big fan of palindromes, and one of his faves was "Dennis sinned", which would make him giggle like a little Catholic school girl. So after the umpteenth time of hearing "Dennis sinned" I started coming back with "I hear 'Dennis Sinned' is coming to the Valley Art (well known porn theatre in Phoenix) .. or "I wanted to go see that last night, but at the last moment it got yanked by the censors." or "My friends are going to see "Dennis Sinned" tonight, Dad, wanna come along?" ........... Oh, and PS, SP (lol) the famous palindrome about Panama is "A man, a plan, a canal; Panama." Read it backwards, you'll see

Thanks everybody! The chorus of this song was a treat to work with. The verses not so much. Luckily it goes C-V-C-V-C and Susanna's comment the other day about a tempest in Finland gave me a starting point for the second verse.

@CML; There are perhaps a thousand published palindromes, including the well-loved " Dennis and Edna sinned", and the goofy-drome variant on the famous canal 'drome which Sarah quoted. I believe she was looking for a third one to deal with Peter's theme, so I offer, in clunky English, "No. Is a vex-attack. Cat-tax evasion."
Callmelennie - April 18, 2016 - Report this comment
I know, Doctor G, I've seen books with hundreds of palindromes in the humor section of bookstores
Sarah Palindrome - April 18, 2016 - Report this comment
@Dr GC dec; Thanks for your effort, but scat-tax is more relevant than cat-tax. There is a classic 'drome which goes, "Won't lovers revolt now?" A goofier version, a propos of this song is, "Won't filers relift now?". Hope that satisfies CML's 3-urge. BTW 5s for the parody.
