The Lyrics

Mock (squawk!)
ing (squawk!)
bird (squawk!)
Stop! (squawk!)

Mocking bird
He makes fun of me with each word
Don’t know why I got a mocking bird
Oh man, that mocking bird is mean
He's bringing down all my self-esteem
Cause from the time I open my eyes
He makes fun of me ‘till I sleep at night
Don’t know why, but I’ll sell it to anybody
Please say yes, “Oh no, no, no, no, no!”

With a girl, a big date planned
He went and gave me a piece of mind
“Hey, if you leave the house that way,
there is no chance that you will be getting laid.
You have no car and have no dough,
Won’t kiss her tonight, better to stay home.”
And so I cried, he kept on laughing in my ear
Said “Ha-ha, boo-hoo baby, ha-ha!”

[Music Break]

Job interview at the firm
No sass this time from the mocking bird
But man, that mocking bird can fling
All these insults “Work at Burger King!
Work down at Burger King all night
Get me a Whopper and some fries!
And there's a reason why you won’t get hired by nobody-
You’re lame, lame! Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo, ha-ha!”

[Owner]
“Listen now and understand
I’m sick and tired of your piece of mind!
Shouldn’t have bought you that one day
Why can’t you just shut up and fly away!?
‘Cause you ain’t no dove, I know where to go
We’re gonna go to the Oprah show!

[To Oprah]
“He does this all the time, he just keeps poking fun and jeers…
[While crying]
No, no, no, no, why, why, why, why, no Polly!”

Very funny idea, Abbott. Especially liked when the bird squawked about 'Burger King'

(Ages) Clearly the only sarcastic bird that should be allowed to exist is Iago. Great parody here, even if it was a bit tricky to follow given the "let's half-repeat each other's lines" nature of the OS. 555!

(Ages Final) Wow, that's one mean bird that likes to mock!!! Ha ha...Mocking Bird!!! If I HAD a bird like that, I would pluck out those feathers of his and mock the living daylights out of him till he mocked his last mock! Here's 555's to help improve your self esteem!

Sounds like you need a good recipe for mockingbird pot pie.

I love the little twist you took with the title and changing a mockingbird into a mocking bird. That's pretty clever. I also like the bird making fun of you never getting laid, working at Burger King and your wardrobe.

Arwen is right, that mocking bird IS an annoying little bastard. He should be fried up in a pan - yum yum! I really like your parody but I barely remember the OS as a grade schooler and I always have absolutely HATED and LOATHED it my entire life. I remember being in the back seat of my mom's old gas guzzling dinosaur (my younger sister was there too) and we pulled out from the parking lot of a "nursery and crafts" (gardening and lawn) shop and she turned the radio on and it played that wretched song. I was about 8 at the time and that awful song made me feel like I was wearing diapers. I hate it ; )
