The Lyrics

Charlie Daniels wrote this song as a tribute to some of the bands that he toured with and enjoyed working with over the years. And I'm going to do the same with this parody, because I've enjoyed playing and "working" with many of the Am I Righters here. The only thing I hate about doing tributes like this is someone feeling left out because they weren't mentioned. My memory isn't what it used to be, so don't take it personally. It's also a short song lyric-wise. But if you comment on this song, I guarantee you'll get a spot in my next tribute. ;-)

So clap your hands, stomp your feet, slap your knees and give us a big yeehaw.....
What a brain, the writer's switchin', punnin' tight online
It's that Kristof, boy 'e's cookin' up some rare hot lines
Sheep'll run in Florida, know the drill
When old Tommy Turtle's writin' with his partner, skilled
Fallin' down with laughter at his puns bizarre
We cheer Ribber Man smokin' like a fine cigar

So glad I found, glad I found this one
And how, it's got no competition
Tough crowd? We got some contests here
But proud? Well you can be clowns here
Be wowed by the writers, Am I Right can I get an amen! (and amen)

[Extended instrumental with: Fiddlegirl on fiddle (duh), Andria on guitar, Andy Primus on bass, Christie Marie M on drums, TJC on piano, Mark Scotti on keyboard, Ann Hammond on tambourine, Warren Baker on harmonica, DJ Blaze on cowbell (see, those lessons are paying off) and Red Ant is running the sound board for us at ChuckyG Studios.]

Elfin Arwen witty as the longest day
She nails good pacin' in a crafty way
And there's Airfarcewon and you must admit
Ain't no other writer written like him yet
And lots of good people here from A(dagio) - 2(Eagle) - T(immy1000)
Enjoyin' J.A. Barry and then B.A.D.

So clown around, get 'em down: written
Get down, well it just keeps on tickin'
This crowd? Well they can be lewd here
But cowed? Well you won't be booed here
Be proud you're a writer, Am I Right, what a site, come on in (yes it is)

And the band plays on.........and on.........and on, yeehaw!!!

Great job! As I said before, I've got guitars, but I can't play too well. I'd probably end up being beaten to death with one were I to play in a professional band. 5s, and thanks for the mention!

(Playing a special little "tag" riff... just for you) Fine tribute to some mighty fine writers! :)

Thanks for lettin' me clog at your hoedown...but, of course, I never really had a ho down in ho life... :)

Fine group tribute, from a fine writer. Group of Fives for you.

@ Phil Nelson: I had assumed that you just arrived on site when first I saw your comments; then, seeing that your song posts today were blue-linked (i. e., > 10), looked it up. Busy, busy, busy in 2003 and 2004, then it seems you fell off the planet for five years. (I arrived in early '06, much to everyone's subsequent regret.) So I wouldn't take it personally -- BJ is relatively recent, and probably DK you also. Cheers.

I've always wanted to play the harmonica, but there is that pesky restraining order...

Mark: Thanks and glad you liked it!
OMR: Thanks, the tribs are always fun for me.
Phil Nelson: Thanks, glad you liked, you have earned a spot in my next one by commenting here.
LilCUP: They will also be in the next one, as well as yourself, by virtue of your comments. ;-)
DJ Blaze: LOL at more cowbell !!! I'd love to see your take on this OS, it kicks!
Andria: Thanks, you don't have to play well, just loudly. ;-)
FG: Love that mighty fine tag riff, thanks!
AFW: LOL, couldn't have a hoedown without you, thanks.
TT: Thanks for the group hug.
Samurai: Dang it! Forgot the Jug player. I meant to have one, so you are hereby the honorary Jugger and also will be in my next group trib!
Adagio: You're welcome and it was overdue. :-)
Warren Baker: LOL, don't want to get you in any trouble! Let's put Phil Nelson on Harmonica and add another Guitar to the mix? :-)
Christie: You mean you don't play drums? Wrong again about you! Thanks as always for v/c! :-)

As I said in Top Comments (and everyone reads those, right?), hard to get everyone I've ever interacted with into tribs. The main reason is space and my faulty memory. And I'll generally need to get to know you a litlle bit. I like what I write about you to be part of your character that I've learned about you. Either personally or about you're style of writing parodies. I want the lines to mean something and not just be a list of names, not that there's anything wrong with that, just not my particular style. (and technically, I included everyone whose name starts with letter 'A' through letter 'T') ;-D

(cough) the intro at http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/dustyspringfield39.shtml (cough) .... at least if you use an objective criterion, there's no room for complaint. :-D (and takes care of the last line of your intro).

Nice tribute. If anyone's feeling left out - go grab a cowbell. The world needs more cowbell.
blackjack21 - January 23, 2010 - Report this comment
HTAHF,M: You can never make everyone happy. My next one will contain all the people who have commented here, no more, no less. How's that for objective. Eh....but your name might be a little too long, so don't get your feelings hurt if you don't make the cut. ;-)

Andy Primus: Thanks, everybody loves cowbell. That's why DJ Blaze got to play cowbell, cuz everybody loves DJ. :-)

Too long? OK, you can abbreviate it: Just take the first letter of the second word and the last letter of the fourth word. ThaT'll do nicely ;-D
