Song Parodies -> "Decade Police"

Original Song Title:

"Dream Police"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Cheap Trick

Parody Song Title:

"Decade Police"

Parody Written by:

Agrimorfee

The Lyrics

Decade Police, I sure wish he was dead
Decade Police, he must be cracked in the head
Decade Police, he's come to terrorize me, oh no

You know I wrote "Dummy" in a humorous voice
But my vote tally I don't think will survive the night, the night

'Cause he's voting on me
All 1's are for me
Here on Amiright, it's driving me insane
That anal troll's disdain!

Decade Police is trying to ruin my cred (to ruin my cred)
Decade Police, he must be underfed (must be underfed)
Decade Police, he's got it in for me, oh no

Well, on this website, your commentaries are free
His opinion's sweet, but he's so fussy--that's right, that's right!

'Cause he's down-voting me
Help me Chucky G!
Now on Amiright, the decades' off the range
This guy's ob-viously deranged!

For "ABC" he was a snake, he would not leave me alone
Despite all exepectations, he would not leave me alone
Next parody I'll try to write, I'll do research by phone
Now Lord Almighty, he's the judge and voting all in 1's!

He's down-voting me!
Help me, Chucky G!
Every single vote is causing me such pain
Though should I feel so vain?

Decade Police, goddamn I wish he were dead
Decade Police, I sit here scratching my head
Decade Police, you are just a travesty
Decade Police (Police, Police)
Decade Police (Police, Police)

Great job! I feel your pain. You won't get ones from me...555

Clever idea for a parody, but "Decade" is two syllables as opposed to "Dream" which is one, so I may have to downgrade the pacing.
Agrimorfee - May 23, 2005 - Report this comment
But of course, Anonymous, you won't because the OS lyric in the chorus is "The -Dream- Po-lice yadyadaydayyada..." Three syllables, which does match my "De-cade-po-lice" lyric. But of course.

Yes, I see, but "Dec-ade Pol-ice" is still four syllables.

In response to my most recent comment, I guess I don't really KTOS very well.

(SOTM) This person who voted you all 111 must have been diss-lexic. I STILL have yet to hear TOS to rate it fairly ( haven't voted it ). As for this parody, nice comeback to a person with nothing better to do in their miserable lives than chain vote 111 for a decade slip.

(SOTM05) DKTOS - good job

(SOTM) (In case I go ahead and vote in the round, even though I'm not entered) I KTOSW (know the original song well) and I love this Agri. I think it's my fave of yours so far! :) Great job, man!

(SOTM) Fun to sing.

Stuart's take on this subject had a higher LOL factor but this is still very good. My sister had some Cheap Trick albums so I know this song, it was my favorite together with "I love you honey but I hate your friends" which I'm one day gonna do as "I love the honeys when they wear depends" or something like that... :-)
Spaff.com - June 24, 2005 - Report this comment
Clever idea for a parody, but "Decade" is two syllables as opposed to "The Dream" which is two syllables, so I may have to downgrade the pacing. Also, when I read it wrong, the pacing of "Police" in the parody doesn't match the pacing of "Police" in the OS. Then again, I guess I don't really KTOS very well. Then again, if I could stop whacking myself with this flyswatter, it would be easier to concentrate. Then again, I just wet my pants.

Ahem. Love the original; love the parody.

I think that there is a place for the "decade police," but he/she/they never seem to be able to keep things in perspective. This parody puts things in perspective. Well done, Agrimorfee.
Mikey Squirrel - June 27, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Ok, still being relatively new to this, I don't know about Decade Police that well, but it sounds like he (she?) is a big bully. I DO know the OS and I agree that the pacing for the title is off. Beyond that, excellent and funny parody, Agrimorfee. Four-Five-Five.
Johnny D - June 28, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) See above ... "He is, Ag-rimorfee, The Man-of-Am-i-Right, his destiny calls, and he goes!"
Agrimorfee - June 28, 2005 - Report this comment
All folks with pacing issues, let me say it one more time. Listen to the original song, or read the lyrics at lyricsfreak.com. You will hear the chorus sung, or written throughout, as "The Dream Police...". Four syllables. My song lyric: "Decade Police..." Four syllables. End of story.
Spaff.com - June 28, 2005 - Report this comment
I'm sure that Aggro caught this, but just to clarify for anyone who didn't: The first paragraph of my previous comment is intended solely to poke fun at "Anonymous" (probably the Decade Police in disguise), who kept arguing that the pacing was wrong, only to later admit to not even knowing the original. "Decade Police" actually paces perfectly with "The Dream Police."
Agrimorfee - June 28, 2005 - Report this comment
Spaff, as usual I flew off the handle. I should have guessed it, coming from you. Sorry. (Same to you Mikey Squirrel, if you were just having a bit of fun.) :(

Thanks for clearing it up, Mr. Agrimorf.

(hits head with mouse) D'oh! Sorry (May I call you) Aggro! I must have been whacked out on something not to notice that. The pacing does work and I apologize for the one point robbery. Great job!

SOTM--Hee! Nice job, Agri...I think we can all relate!
Stuart McArthur - June 29, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) - see above - I NEARLY (THAT close!) submitted my "Decade Police" for the May Comp too, Agri, which would have been a first surely (2 with the same title) - anyway between us we stuck it up em - and btw NO pacing problems here, mate - paced beautifully in fact

Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) - July 01, 2005 - Report this comment
'Agrimorfee' is four syllables whereas 'fives' is only one... great job!
My raps only get pulled up by the Decade Police because I think I'm black.

DKTOS, but works well as a free-read, at least if you're a regular here. I'm not a huge fan of 'they' either. 'They' are the ones voters and the Decade police and the other anal retentives who love expressing their hang-ups and dislikes on our parodies. That's the thing, though. The freedom we have to express ourselves through our parodies, 'they' have as well.

DKTOS (What else is new) but I loved it and game it 5s. You should've made the decade for this song wrong, just for kicks.

SP: Maybe he just didn't feel like it. But if he had used 2000's or 90's do you think the DP would have complained (at all) by now? I've NHTOS either. (NH stands for Never Heard.)
acronym police to JR - November 03, 2005 - Report this comment
What Jeff Reuben said in his June 30th comment was "Don't Know Original The Song." He probably meant DKTOS.
Jeff Reuben - November 05, 2005 - Report this comment
No, I meant Don't Know Original: The Song...not to be confused with Don't Know Original: The Musical
C.J. Spindler - November 23, 2005 - Report this comment
I think "acronym police" was pointing out the fact that "DKTOS" is a very common acronym here, because it stands for a phrase that comes up quite often.
Allicat - December 04, 2005 - Report this comment
Definitely a 555. And just to tell you, I did not have a problem with the pacing of "decade police" as to "the dream police." awesome! : )
C.J. Spindler to Allicat - December 19, 2005 - Report this comment
That's probably because you DO know the os. I'm gonna look for it online so I can sing along.

Hey CJ, you can look on Youtube; I'm sure they got a recording of the OS there.
