The Lyrics

Michigan’s governor, Rick Snyder, is trying to solve Detroit’s economic woes by giving the City’s financial decision-making authority to an emergency manager. It’s not working! Maybe the problems are so bad that nothing would work. But why try to solve the problems without involving the City’s mayor, who is highly respected and has almost 30 years of experience at running a business?
When he was a little, bitty boy,
A basketball was his favorite toy.
He liked it more than a kite on a string,
‘Cause no one shot as well as young David Bing!

Young David Bing, young David Bing, he became Big Shot David Bing.
Young David Bing, young David Bing, he became Big Shot David Bing.

He scored lots of points for the Detroit team,
But his Pistons did not realize their dream.
They didn’t win a Championship ring,
But no one placed the blame on All Star David Bing.

Shooting guard Bing, businessman Bing, on the ball at everything!
Shooting guard Bing, businessman Bing, on the ball at everything!

Four years ago, Detroit folks agreed
There was a need for someone who could lead.
They tried to make this icon their king,
But settled instead for Mayor David Bing.

Moderate Bing, moderate Bing, loved by both the left and right wings.
Moderate Bing, moderate Bing, loved by both the left and right wings.

But Detroit saw its economy tank;
It had more debt than money in the bank.
The governor feared a prolonged downswing,
And thought he knew more than Mayor David Bing.

Motown’s business no longer sings, cash registers don’t go “cha ching.”
Motown’s business no longer sings, cash registers don’t go “cha ching.”

State intervention just made things worse;
Detroit now has an economic curse.
The governor failed because of one thing:
He didn’t play ball with Mayor David Bing!

Big ding-a-ling, big ding-a-ling, should have played ball with Mayor David Bing.
Big ding-a-ling, big ding-a-ling, dropped the ball, now Detroit’s in a sling.

almost as funny as the OS 5's

Jonathan, on a lean day for parody comments, I appreciate your taking the time. Yes, it would be difficult to top the humor of the OS.

I'm clueless about the topic but still enjoyed it because of the OS: I believe it's Chuck's biggest selling (and worst) song.

LL, thanks for the comment. I agree with your assessment of the OS, but I was somewhat surprised that this is only the 3rd parody of that song on AIR.
