Original Song Title:

"Jolene"

Original Performer:

Dolly Parton

Parody Song Title:

"Joe Greene"

Parody Written by:

Porfle Popnecker

The Lyrics

Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene
Your fans upon their faces paint your praise
Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene
You adorn the banners that they raise

Upon the field you tackled all
Who would presume to run the ball
Into your endzone, none may crawl
Joe Greene

And like your name, you made the green
Upon the football field, so mean
Your namesake it would come to be
Joe Greene

Commercials you have made a few
Whatever you told me to do
I'd hurry to the store for you
Joe Greene

Especially that one you did
"The Football Player and the Kid"
Your jersey did you throw to him
Joe Greene

Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene
Your injuries do cause your fans to cringe
Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene
In your name they raise the beers they binge

Football legend you became
As sports announcers hailed the name
Every lunchbox would proclaim
Joe Greene

And if I'd never seen you play
An empty feeling every day
Would haunt me for the lack of you
Joe Greene

Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene
Offensive are the linemen in your eyes
Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene, Joe Greene
How we love to watch you penalize

Joe Greene, Joe Greene

Second greatest Super Bowl commercial of all times (after the 1984 Apple MacIntosh). Wonder what the kid's mom said when he walked in the house carrying that smelly, dirty old shirt. That might make for a great detergent commercial. Amazing how one song can be transformed into something totally different. But, isn't that what we're here for?

It’s very well done. I gave it a 5 in pacing, a 1 in funny. It’s a parody in that it’s different from the original, but it’s not a parody in that there is absolutely nothing in it that is even remotely funny. Could you use the word “mean” once? I also hated seeing the word “banner” and wanted to see “terrible towel”. Something like “puncturing lungs, lacerating spleens, those towels are for blood cause you’re so mean, joe Greene?”

@Jay S -- I loved your opening sentence, but after that all of your observations and suggestions were HORRIBLE! Some of the worst I have ever read! P.S. I did use the word "mean." :)

@Jay S .. This is even funnier than it is well paced, so what the F... are you talking about? ..... I'm checking this out, Porf, because I'm thinking of a second take on "Joe Greene" closer to the actual theme of the OS ... where a run of the mill Offensive Lineman is begging Joe Greene to take it easy on him
