The Lyrics

As the Metal-head in me demands, I have to do something to pay tribute to the best guitarist ever. Dimebag Darrell. Okay you may have you own opinions about the best guitarist ever but I have mine. But yeah this is sorta how I got introduced to Pantera and my thoughts on Dimebag Darrell. R.I.P. Dimebag.
A long long time ago
I can still remember when I found that music CD on the street
And I knew if he was alive, that I would see Pantera live
And maybe I'd be happy for the week
But wikipedia filled me with fright
With the written text, black and white
Dimebag's gone to Heaven
The same night as John Lennon
I can't remember if I cried when I read about his final night
But something touched me deep inside
When Dimebag Darrell died

(chorus)
So bye-bye Brother Dime's in the sky
Blasted Hollow from my radio but the music was dry
The metal fans, drink their shots as they cry saying
Heavy Metal will never die
Heavy Metal will never die

Were you there when the brothers jammed, and are you a fan of Damageplan
Yes Pantera changed the world
Do you believe that Rhandy Roads, set his guitar to overload
And could he shred like Brother Dime, real slow
Well I know that you're a Metal-head, your iPod's playing Megadeth
Your music taste is cool, because you love old-school
I was a confused techno loving schmuck, until the Metal taugh me not to give a fuck
But I knew I was out of luck when Dimebag Darrell died

We were singing

(chorus)
Bye-bye Brother Dime's in the sky
Blasted Hollow from my radio but the music was dry
The metal fans, drink their shots as they cry saying
Heavy Metal will never die
Heavy Metal will never die

Now for four years, Pantera was split up and, the brothers formed up Damageplan
But that's not how it used to be
When the guitarist played on that fateful night, Gale planned out his final night
With a kiss of death feared by you and me
And when Dimebag pleased the crowd, Gale fired his gun and took him down
The concert was adjourned, Dimebag didn't return
And James took Gale out with hark, Metal came out of the dark
We paid tributes in the park when Dimebag Darrell died

We were singing

(chorus)
Bye-bye Brother Dime's in the sky
Blasted Hollow from my radio but the music was dry
The metal fans, drink their shots as they cry saying
Heavy Metal will never die
Heavy Metal will never die

Phil Anselmo broken down, condemned the media and gave the table a pound
Never to appear again
Vinnie Paul had to take a break
Two years in he gave HellYeah the take, with the music, his whole life, in the make
The induction air was sweet in fume, as Zakk Wylde performed a tribute tune
We all sang along, and cried to that sad song
Because, when the melody begins to play, you cannot help but see Dimebag's face
and it all seemed to fall into place when Dimebag Darrell died

We were singing

(chorus)
Bye-bye Brother Dime's in the sky
Blasted Hollow from my radio but the music was dry
The metal fans, drink their shots as they cry saying
Heavy Metal will never die
Heavy Metal will never die

Now here we all are in a lock, listening to Pantera's rock
Drinking shots, drunk before we could tell
So sing with, 'be yourself, by yourself' stay the fuck away from me
Dimebag was a Cowboy from Hell
Now I watch bands on the stage, my hands clenched in fists of rage
No Metal born today, could make Dime's music go away
So we drink one more shot to Dimebag's life, because his music is Metal's light
And Satan laughed with full delight when Dimebag Darrell died

We were singing

(chorus)
Bye-bye Brother Dime's in the sky
Blasted Hollow from my radio but the music was dry
The metal fans, drink their shots as they cry saying
Heavy Metal will never die
Heavy Metal will never die

I met a guy who sang 'This Love'
I asked him who had gone above
He shook my hand and walked away
I went down to the record store,
Pantera's music scattered on the floor
And the clerk said, the music wasn't that good anyway
And as I pass the cemetery gates
I may have had a couple drinks
Not one word is spoken
Dimebag's grave is now shown
The three men I admire most
Vinnie, Rex Brown, and Anselmo
They go their separate ways and remain for now
'Cause Dimebag Darrell died

We were singing

(chorus)
Bye-bye Brother Dime's in the sky
Blasted Hollow from my radio but the music was dry
The metal fans, drink their shots as they cry saying
Heavy Metal will never die
Heavy Metal will never die
We were singing
Bye-bye Brother Dime's in the sky
Blasted Hollow from my radio but the music was dry
The metal fans, drink their shots as they cry saying
Heavy Metal will never die
Heavy Metal will never die
Yeah unless you're a hard Pantera fan like me you may not get most of this. This really isn't meant to be funny or a parody at all really...but it had to be done. Rest in Peace Brother Dime. Until we meet again...
