The Lyrics

COVID PIE

A long long time ago
I can still remember
When the COVID
Had just been a while

And I knew with only, just one glance
That many wouldn’t, take the chance
And maybe , they’d wear face masks ,for a while

But February made me quiver
Glad I wasn’t, a care-giver
Bad news with one misstep
need to get more sani-prep

I can’t remember if I cried
When I learned I can’t get , my hair dyed
Wear a mask and stay inside
Until , the COVID dies
So

(Refrain)
I’llllllll just have to stock up on pie
May get heavy, eat spaghetti and then go drink a mai tai
Might as well get some more whiskey and rye
Thinking this may be the day that I die
Might as well go eat some more pie

(Oh) Did you get a box of gloves
And do you have faith in those above
If the TV tells you so
And do you believe in self control
Can face masks ,save your mortal soul
And can you tell me where to get am-mo

Well I know that my out-look is grim
Cause I , saw they even closed the gym
I may just drink more booze
Man I can’t Even do a cruise

I was a lonely teenage COVID schmuck
On a long vacation with the world amok
And I knew that I was outta luck
Until the COVID died
I started singing

(Refrain)
I’ll just have to stock up on pie
May get heavy, eat spaghetti and go drink a mai tai
Go out and get some more whiskey and rye
Thinkin this’ll be the day that I die
Might as well just eat some more pie...

Now for ten weeks I’ve been on my own
My fats grown and it ain’t hormone
But that’s not how it was, to be.

The pro- testers were , getting mean
And they had signs that, were obscene
And a voice that said let’s all be cop-free

And now that things were ,looking down
They started boarding , up downtown
The courtroom ,it was burned
No verdict was returned,.

And well Trump he went and closed the parks
They de-stroyed ,our landmarks
And we held torches in the dark
Until the COVID died
We were singing

(Refrain)
I’ll just have to stock up on pie
May get heavy , eat spaghetti and Go drink a mai tai
Might have to get some more whiskey and rye
Thinking this’ll be the day that I die
Might as well go eat some more pie

Helter skelter starting to swelter
may be time to build a bomb shelter
Eight weeks in and pie ,..may not last

I’m stranded at an underpass
The drivers thought that they could pass
With protesters , on the sideline , getting gassed

Now the night time sense was doom and gloom
Most neighbors stayed in their cocoons
I thought I’d take a chance
...go and get a cash advance

Cause the protesters were makin shields
They refused to ever yield
I still recall when they just kneeled
Until, the COVID died
We started singing

(Refrain)
Iiiiiiii still have to stock up on pie
May get heavy ,make spaghetti and go drink a mai tai
Might have to get some more whiskey and rye
Thinking this’ll be the day that I die
Time to go and eat some more pie

Oh and there we were all in our space
A generation with no face
And no time left to get ,more gin..

So come on let’s assemble , grab a brick
I may need a , bigger stick
But fire ,is the best way to offend

Oh as I watched them get enraged
I felt that I had truly aged
What would it take to quell
To break that covid spell

And as the flames grew high into the night
Despite the prejudicial fight
They were photographing with delight
Until the COVID died
He was singing

(Refrain)
I’m gonna need some more pie
May get heavy, eat spaghetti and go drink a mai tai
Might have to get some more whiskey and rye
Thinking this’ll be the day that I die
Time to go eat some more pie

I met a girl who , had a bruise
And I asked her for some, extra booze
But she just smiled and turned away

I went down to the liquor store
But it HAD been looted , weeks before
And the man there, he just told me, go away

And in the streets, the masses teamed
All things aside ,it seemed a dream
The windows were all broken
The truth it was unspoken

And the cops who, I admire most
They had lost their com-mand post
They all accepted, they were toast
Until, the COVID died
And they were singing

(Refrain)
I’m gonna need some more pie
May get heavy, eat spaghetti and go make a mai tai
Might have to get some more whiskey and rye
Thinking this could be the day that I die
Time to go eat some more pie

Wow! One of the best efforts I've seen this whole damn decade! (;-D) Seriously, one of the best efforts Ive seen in a couple of years AND one of the most auspicious beginnings for a newbie Ive seen since I've been hanging around this joint. (since 2012)

I don't do numbers, but I am compelled to comment on a true masterpiece. You blend a lot of the original lines and rhymes to fit today's crisis. I wish I knew some way to get this recorded for youtube or TV. I tried stocking up on sanitizer, though I never used it before. Ammo is gone from the store shelves and the prices at gun shows are double. Gyms and hair care salons were closed, but not liquor stores. Football games and street festivals were out, but riots and looting are in. I see this is your first appearance here. Looks like you hit a home run and scored a touchdown on the first try. And at least two people were watching. We may not agree on "Sky Pilot", but Lennie and I are both in one Accord (small Japanese car?) on the fabulous pie you just baked.
