The Lyrics

For those of you not up on Bobby Fischer you may think this parody is way over-the-top. It isn't. He's been a ranting paranoid Nazi for quite a while now and I include a weblink for more info. Who knows why a guy who's half Jewish becomes a Nazi...maybe that's what Chess does to some people. As the song says, he needs to stop playing Chess and start doing some Meditation.http://bobbyfischer.net/bobby40.html
A long, long time ago I can still remember how that chess player became world champ,
When Bobby Fischer played Spassky, if anyone dared to ask me,
I'd tell them Bobby Fischer was a hero.
But then he came out of hiding, praising Hitler and Bin Laden,
We know now he's a Nazi, laughing at the dead bodies.
He said 9/11 was a great thing, he wants to kill all human beings,
He loves mass exterminating, Bobby, Fischer's Evil. Now...

CHORUS
We know Bobby Fischer's Evil, there are millions of Jews that he wants to kill, he's a White Supremacist who's mentally ill, but Bobby aren't you a half Jew? Though I know you wish it not to be true.

But I recall back in '72, when out of the water that Russian you blew, and all of us kids were playin' chess,
But now you believe there's a conspiracy,
you say "Jews and Commies are out to get me",
and you believe the Nazis killed too slow.
Well I heard you on the radio, laughing about the 3000 souls,
you yelled, "Death to the U.S.!!" hours after the attack.
You were a grandmaster celebrity, but then you lost your sanity,
I guess megalomania was your destiny, Bobby, Fischer's Evil.
I started singin...

Chorus
We know Bobby Fischer's Evil, there are millions of Jews that he wants to kill, he's a White Supremacist who's mentally ill, but Bobby aren't you a half Jew? Though I know you wish it not to be true.

Now for thirty years you've been all alone,
someone should tell you your hatred is wrong,
meditation techniques might help,
But in Reykjavik you were the king,
You made Boris feel your Knight's sting,
and you became the world's champeen.
Oh when he moved Pawn to Queen's Rook Eight,
Bobby simply said "Checkmate",
The tournament was adjourned, and Fischer never returned,
and while he was reading Mein Kampf, his paranoia and his angst,
possessed his soul and since that day, Bobby, Fischer's Evil.
We were singin...

Chorus
We know Bobby Fischer's Evil, He says in World War 2 that no Jews were killed, he's a White Supremacist who's mentally ill, but Bobby aren't you a half Jew? Though I know you wish it not to be true.

Not that funny, but very illuminating. I had no idea the guy was that psycho. Good for you, Adam. I'm working on my own American Pie parody, and it's stalled at, "My, my, that Ms. Aniston's fly, Know that Braddy is her daddy, wish that Braddy would die, Then I'd be at home and eating Aniston pie..." I like yours better. Peace and happy Chanukah. d;:^)

Thanks Bob. I'll check out yours when you submit it. Opinions vary on Bobby Fischer, whether he's really "evil" or just mentally ill, but as my song says, I would say he's both.

Adam, I found an article in the Atlantic Monthly that backs up everything you've written here and then some: http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2002/12/chun.htm. And Bob, I wish you luck with Jennifer, in more ways than one, but I always loved Courtney -- though if I were gonna go for one of the characters, rather than one of the actresses, it would be Phoebe, if only she wouldn't freak out when I eat meat.

Just goes to prove that "anything can be said about anyone and half the people will believe it". We're talking about a man who proved himself 30 years ago to be the greatest chess player in the world...who came back 20 years later to prove it again. A man who could "see things" at the chess table that few if any others could see. Now we're led to believe that he's an evil, paranoid, un-thinking, hate-filled nazi just because certain people claim it to be so. How convenient that he's not available to debate any of their so-called facts. I've read dozens of books and articles concerning "Bobby Fischer" and can only conclude that he has enemies in high positions, especially in the media and government...or just the government (in case you had already realized that the "Walter Cronkites" and "Barbara Walters" and Dan Rathers" of the world are all ex-government employees). It would prove nothing for me to simply state that most of these comments are out right lies and fabrications with no basis. Therefore, I'll leave it to the readers to try and read between the lines, asking themselves the only pertinent question," Has Bobby Fischer lost his mind or is it simply convenient to portray him in this manner because of his political convictions. Remember how the media portrayed "David Koresh" in Waco, Texas? The average American was convinced that the "Branch Davidians" were terrorists and that David Koresh thought he was God. The media went on to say he had multiple wives, an illegal arsenal, as well as a multitude of other sins. When the ATF went in and killed 100 or so men, women and children, the only thing on their warrant was for "income taxes".

Maybe by being a half-Jew he was rejected by the Jewish community as well without his own doing.

davan- interesting idea but wrong. there's no concept of 'half jewish' in judaism.... if the mother is jewish, all the children are (fully) jewish; if father only is jewish, children are 100% not jewish. so no basis for rejection either way on basis of being half something. would be respected as either a jew or a non-jew

Jewish writers like Phil Pepe didn't give that kind of benefit to Sandy Koufax whose father was a Gentile.

Leave Bobby Fisher alone, what was his crime in Pasadena? Not telling his name to get in jail? Why he was banned, for earning money in Serbia, is it that bad? He was right that America is a fake democracy, he does know Jews better than anyone, but he was not right in his statements, neither were the USA

I hope Mr Fischer has found peace at last, as he was a troubled soul.

If would never call Bobby evil now. Now that he's long since died, and we can look at him with historical perspective, he just had a case of "chess madness". Both of his parents were Jews, and the new film "Bobby Fischer against the world" paints a fair portrait. The US was so unfair to him threatening him with arrest for playing chess, so he became an expat. Then he was detained in Japan until Iceland gave him citizenship. But his anti-semitic statements cannot be excused, just explained. His insanity was partly nature and partly nurture.
