The Lyrics

As I was traveling through Georgia one night . . .
On a dark Georgia highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of Cletus
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a flashing blue light
It was Roscoe P. Coltraine
I had to get out of sight
There he stood in the doorway
With his old hound dog
A cop who was corrupted
By ol' J.D. Hogg
Then he lit up his flashlight
And he showed me the way
There were auto parts down that corridor
Thought I heard someone say

Welcome to Hazzard County Georgia
Such a lovely place
(Such a lovely place)
Such an ugly face
Plenty of Dukes in Hazzard County Georgia
Any time of year
(Any time of year)
You can find them here
You can find them here

His bladder is definitely twisted
He's got the super-size Depends
He's got a lot of purty, purty dogs
That he calls friends
Now he dances in the courtyard
Cletus summer sweat
None dance to remember
Most dance to forget

So I called to Uncle Jessie
Please bring me moonshine
He said
We have that spirit here
it makes Daisy look real fine
And still those Dukes are yellin' from far away
Yee-ha! in the middle of the night
Then you hear them say

Welcome to Hazzard County Georgia
Such a lovely place
(Such a lovely place)
Such an ugly face
They're livin' it up in Hazzard County Georgia
'Cause of Daisy's thighs
('Cause of Daisy's thighs)
Grab a cow and fly

Fenders on the ceiling
Cold beer on ice
And he said
We are all just livin' here
To make moonshine
And down at the Blue Boar
Boss Hogg sat down for the feast
He stabbed Enos with his steely knives
But he just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
Then I met by
Mr. Cooter Davinport
Relax said the mechanic
Just drive the General Lee
You can drive it all you like
But you can never leave

In the immortal words of Mr. Jim Nabors, "Well, gol-ol-LEE!" Not to be confused with the General or his automotive namesake. But the Dukes were finished when that much faster car -- whose doors could be opened by interior computer, as opposed to having been welded shut -- blew past them on Friday nights. "KITT, get over here!" -- David Hasselhoff. Of course, John Schneider (Bo Duke) and Tom Wopat (Luke Duke) both have had better singing careers than the former Michael Knight, but then, by going on "Baywatch," Hasselhoff was surrounded by more (and more famous) babes. BTW, check out Catherine's even hotter sister, Barbara Bach, as Anya Amasova, KGB Agent XXX, alongside Roger Moore (James Bond) in "The Spy Who Loved Me." Do not catch her in "Caveman," after which she married Ringo, her co-Starr.

"Warm smell of Cletus" is the sort of thing I won't soon forget. Well done.
