Parody Song Title:

"Katharine Harris Almost Got Run Over"

Parody Written by:

Steve Kalafut

The Lyrics

It wasn't a reindeer, but a driver who was making, as he put it, a "political expression".
Katharine Harris almost got run over
Walking with supporters one fine day
Sometimes she should just stay off the sidewalk
And realize how rough some people play

You'll remember Katharine Harris
And the flap* four years ago
Controversial election
For a recount the Supreme Court just said no
Later we sent her to Congress
To campaign she then came back
Some guy tried to run her over
As he almost hit her with his Cadillac

Katharine Harris almost got run over
Walking with supporters one fine day
Sometimes she should just stay off the sidewalk
And realize how rough some people play

Feminists said she was ugly
That she aided Dubya's theft
Seems that judging by appearance
Is permitted when a gal ain't on the left
Now she runs for re-election
She has lived through one attack
And we just can't help but wonder
Should we keep our Kat right here, or send her back?
(Send her back!!)

Katharine Harris almost got run over
Walking with supporters one fine day
Sometimes she should just stay off the sidewalk
And realize how rough some people play

Now the guy has been arrested
Just who is he tryin' to kid?
It's assault with deadly weapon
Yet he claims it was expression that he did
He could have been charged with murder
If she'd been within his reach
We should all go tell this nut-case
Mister, running over people ain't free speech

Katharine Harris almost got run over
Walking with supporters one fine day
Sometimes she should just stay off the sidewalk
And realize how rough some people play

Great parody! This one was really good! One small flub, though: TOS came out in the 80s. Aside from that, I liked the parody.

good one, Steve; "running over people ain't free speech", how true--but you'll notice that if you exercise free speech, some people tend to want to run you over;

Almost only counts in horseshoes. And hand grenades. And Red Sox... wait, that's not true anymore... well, don't be sad, 'cause two out of three ain't bad.

Too bad the guy wasn't a better/worse (depending on your perspective) driver.

I like the way you point out hypocrisy, Steve, such as feminists who have no compassion for non-liberal women.

Thanks, everyone. Some good points there. JJ-I must plead guilty to some hypocrisy myself, because in a previous parody, "I ran over the AFLAC duck".
