"Shortstop In the Wind"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

At least now we don't have to listen to Red Sox fans constantly talk about how they have a better shortstop. 'Cause "Nomah Gahciahpahwah" is playing for the other cursed team.
Goodbye, Nomar G
though we never did win it all.
You had the guts to hide yourself
during that 13-inning ball.

Crawled into the dugout
and we whispered, "Isn't that a shame?"
The faithful finally saw through you
though they still can't say your name.

And it seems to me you lived your life
like a shortstop in the wind
never knowing we could count on you
when the Yanks came in.

And I would've cheered you on like
I did when I was a kid.
Your chances burned out long before
your legend saw a skid.

Loneliness was tough
but that excuse was such a sham.
You became less of a superstar
when you married Mia Hamm.

Every year we cried
and the press, it hounded you.
The Herald calling for your head
and Globe said you were through.

And it seems to me you lived your life
like a shortstop in the wind
never knowing we could count on you
when the Yanks came in.

And I would've cheered you on like
I did when I was a kid.
Your chances burned out long before
your legend saw a skid.

Goodbye, Nomar G
though we never did win it all.
You had the guts to hide yourself
during that 13-inning ball.

Goodbye, Nomar G
and I guess that is the way it goes.
We saw you as more than special
more than nervousness and nose.

And it seems to me you lived your life
like a shortstop in the wind
never knowing we could count on you
when the Yanks came in.

And I would've cheered you on like
I did when I was a kid.
Your chances burned out long before
your legend saw a skid.

Your chances burned out long before
your legend saw a skid.
Don't worry, Cubs fans. Eventually, Nomar will get your goat.

Brilliant line: "more than nervousness and nose" .... Yes, Cap'n Pacholek, as shortstops' noses go, his was bigger than most.

Being a Cub fan, it will be interesting to see how this plays out, from one cursed team to another. Good work on a great song, 5's

Thank you, everyone. Johnny: Considering that sports also seems to be cursed in the Edmund Fitzgerald's home port of Cleveland, your comment is most appropriate. Alvin: Actually, the word you're looking for is "honker," unless you're referring to something Mia has. Dee: Let's hope, for the Cubs' sake, that Nomar still has as much Range as you do! Mikey Boy: The difference is that my Yankees hit the ball from the yard, they're my team and they're better than yours, damn right they're better than yours, they could teach ya but they'd have to charge.
