The Lyrics

I guess sad songs really do say so much. Hopefully, for this version of Elton, they also pay so much.
It's a little bit funny
this feeling of debt.
It's not one of those you can
easily get.
I don't have much money
but told them I did.
I bought a big house where
I no longer live.

For I am a debtor.
Do I pay it off? No.
Now a man who makes notions
of collecting it shows.
I know it's not much
but it's the best I can do:
I write these small checks and
this one's for you.

And you can tell everybody
how I went wrong.
It sure is not simple but
now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
that I put down in words
how much I was spending
all over the world.

I sat on the stoop
with all of my stuff.
Well, a few of the curses
of the foreclosure were rough.
But the sun's been quite bright
while I wrote this song.
It'll have be because electricity
can't be turned on.

So excuse me forgetting
'bout these fees I owe.
You see, I've forgotten
all the places they go.
Anyway, the thing is, what I really mean
I am the biggest deadbeat
you've ever seen.

And you can tell everybody
how I went wrong.
It sure is not simple but
now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
that I put down in words
how much I was spending
all over the world.

I hope you don't mind!
I hope you don't mind!
That I put down in words
how much I was spending
all over the world!

This was the best of your three so far (will there be more? I hope so!). Loved the electricity going off the the sitting on the stoop with all the stuff (do people still say 'stoop'?)

MP--great job here. I'm enjoying this Free Credit Report series! Merry--yes, I still say "stoop"!

Don't forget to include sports players as well in the series, especially in Keeler's case who was a baseball Hall of Famer but lived in a shack at the end.

You and Max should collaborate and write a parody together since you have same interests.

Heh heh, I really enjoyed it, and I picked up on the stoop, as did Merry, and that part gave me a laugh!

This is what a parody should sound like. Borrows some lyrics from the original - check. Same tempo - check. Good job. And the "writing small checks and this ones for you" - perfect. Im still laughing.
