Original Song Title:

"In The Ghetto"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Elvis Presley

Parody Song Title:

"Poor Gepetto"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

The Lyrics

as the chips fly......

from a hunk of pine, a sawdust storm
a post-whittled baby child is formed
by gepetto

and he's mesmerized......

cause there's just one thing this ol' man needs
its a son...to raise...and love...and feed
poor gepetto

fairies seem to understand
and one lent a helpin' hand
said, "he'll grow to be an actual boy one day
take this cricket, jiminy
he'll help the child to see"
then she simply raised her wand
and life was underway

well the lad turns......

and this naughty little boy with a stretchin' nose
plays, steals and cheats as his mule ears grow
poor gepetto

but his love still burns......

so he starts to search the streets at night
for the boy can't be real, if he ain't actin' right
poor gepetto

then one day, an indication !
his young man's in a whale
he leaves to hunt, travels far
tracks him down and he starts to spar
or at least, he tries

as the whale's thrashin' 'round, he sinks the ol' man
face, white as a sheet, as he's pulled to the sand
poor gepetto

but he doesn't die......

on this golden day, just like was sworn
there's a buddin' little human child reborn
to gepetto....to gepetto...to gepetto

I cannot tell a lie: When you imagine Elvis himself singing this, any laughs your heart desires will come to you. (OK, I can tell a lie, but not this time!)
