Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?
I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?

all around in my home town,
they tried to drag me down
they say they know I'm not guilty
for the killing of miss Bakeley see.
for the life of my ex huss-y
but I say..

I lost the parrot, but I said I couldn't be the one
I lost the parrot, couldn't put my hand around the gun

D.A. Lon Brown always hated me,
for what? I don't know
every time, they testified,
he'd say guilty.. barretta, we all know
he'd say guilty, Barretta, we all know,
but I say..

I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?
I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?

freedom came my way today
and I slagged all those in town
all of a sudden I see Lon Brown
appealling, he's such a clown,
said I shot, I shot her down.. but I say

I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?
I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?

alzheimers got the better of me..
and what is to be must be
every day I forget ..i mean..oh hell
one thing forgotten, I'll blank out
yes, one thing forgotten, now I'm out
and I say

I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?
I lost the parrot, but I did not kill miss Bakeley, see?

Eric Clapton - March 17, 2005 - Report this comment
Hey, Malcolm...is there a reason why you replaced the L in my last name with an R?

Malcolm I think it was a cockatoo but that would be really hard to pace in that part of the parody. Besides Webster's says it's a species of parrot. Nice and timely. 5s for your effort, sir. Robert gets a walk.

Not only did you spell Eric Clapton's last name wrong, he wasn't even the one who originally did this song. Bob Marley did it first.

Aaerni, who cares? The author intended for this parody to reflect Eric Cwapton's version. If a certain performer never did a certain song, that's another story.
