 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Low-Tar"

Parody Written by:

Jason

The Lyrics

Who says low-tar cigarettes are safer than normal tar ones? And no, I don't smoke either. Thank God for the UK Smoking Ban!
Smokin' low-tar
I am cloggin' my lungs
I am no longer young
Its a deadly way to smoke
Low-tar

Smokin' low-tar
I am smokin' the bar
I am chokin' the guests
It keeps me happy for days
Low-tar

Smokin' low-tar
Which is a safer fag
I am taking a drag
If im havin' a puff
Low-tar

Smokin' low-tar
All my second-hand smoke
It is making you choke
And its making you smell
Low-tar

You're right, there is no such thing as a safe ciarette. Nice work Jason. 5/5/5.

Thanks Mr. Critic! Where have you been all this time? You haven't been on here for ages!

Should sell this as a PSA (public service announcement). Nice. 555. (not sure how the 4 got up there -- if it was my typo and not MC's, very sorry -- hard to type with flippers.)

Tarnation! Good job.

Thank you!

TT: I assume Mr. Critic accidently left the 4 vote as he was the first person to vote but probably clicked the 4 by mistake. Ive done that as well a couple of times by accident. No harm done. And certainly not as harmful as smoking!

John Barry: I like that word Tarnation! Thanks!

I would not normally give 5's on funny on a song that targets a song of this length, but the message you deliver is VERY important. . .so I 5'd you anyway, good job Jason

Have a pack of 5's

Thank you again!

PMS: Thanks!
B.A. Dave: Yea there was an intentional message about smoking in this, but there was also a fun element as well. Thanks!
MrMacphisto: A pack of 5 votes, yes but not a pack of 5 fags! Thanks!

SOTM - This is one smokin' fag there mate. Takes drag from cig. and blows five perfect smoke rings. Guess that number of rings can be your vote.
Matthias - November 15, 2007 - Report this comment
A very, very short OS, and also an education song parody. I wouldn't say this is your best choice of OS for SOTM for those two reasons alone. You see it's not of epic length, or is it hilariously funny, but that's what you went with and I did like it so 5's either way.

I'm basically with Matthias as to why this is not really a prime candidate for SOTM, on the other hand TOS was once one of my fav songs in its genre and I though all good parody ideas for it had been done, so kudos to you for pulling of a fresh angle and proving me wrong there! :-)

(SOTM) Um, well I said my piece on this already, a little short for serious SOTM contention, but an important parody and very well paced.
Agrimorfee - November 27, 2007 - Report this comment
(sotm) Not much to work with, but a good job nevertheless.
Mikey Squirrel - November 29, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM- This parody was smoookin', Jason. But not low-tar. One of those strong, hi-tar, hi-nicotine top-notch cigarettes. Oh yea. Anyways, good job on a short song.
bobpiecheese - November 29, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Not a whole lot to work with, but you got the point across, and perfectly paced as well!
stuart mcarthur - November 29, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) well done for entering it Jason, because it's a little too short to have a real chance at SOTM - but it's well-written, and as Uncle Sam says "SOTM needs your contributions" - 555
Kristof Robertson - November 29, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I agree with Stu, Jase...a parody this short would need absolutely KILLER jokes to push it over the edge. Still, well done, matey. 555
McKludge - November 29, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM - starting too many of the lines with "I am ..." makes this parody flow poorly IMO. But it is a very cool OS, although a lame video. How much did the guy hitting the hand clapping on the keyboard get paid for that?

Thanks to everyone for your comments on this.
Phil Alexander - November 30, 2007 - Report this comment
The cigarette companies like low tar ciggies 'cause people smoke more to make up for it (or something like that). As a parody, it's competent, but not particularly inspired.

Short but sweet! One of my favorite 80s songs...not much to work with, but you did well with what's there.
