The Lyrics

This parody is about the shambles that George W. Bush turned our country and our federal government into and which Barack Obama will have his hands full of for some time. I hope you enjoy this parody. By the way, my estimate of W.'s I.Q. being 26,000 times less than Einstein's is strictly for pacing and humor, but it is probably quite close, and I am as much of an "old man" than bin Laden, me having been born in 1954 and he in 1957. I just call him an old man because of his grey beard, but neither he nor I am eligible for Social Security, so that means that "Old Man" is inserted in place of "Osama" on behalf of his beard coloration and for pacing reasons. "Jihad" is pronounced "JEE-hahd" for pacing reasons and because I say it like that, and "Al-Qaeda" is pronounced "Al-Kay-Duh", "Iraq" is pronounced "Eye-rack", and "New Orleans" is pronounced "Noo-Orlinz" for the same two reasons. Enjoy, and may President-Elect Obama ascend to greatness over the next 4 to 8 years! *"Big Three": Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler
The problem lives on, from Wash-ing-ton on down
To the small towns and big cities all over
George W. Bush is a moron, it's said
He makes all the liberals go gloomy
He's got an I.Q. 26,000 times less
Than that of the Great Albert Einstein
Our nation so gullible was a bone to be chewed
Under the power of W. for eight years

Ol' Dubya was the pride of the Bush family
Comin' from a big long line of oilmen
As Republicans go, he was dumber than most
With a criminal record datin' back to his teen years
He was Governor of Texas for quite a long time
Before he went on to the Oval Office
And later on, in January of two-thousand
All those conservatives were rejoicin'

In two-thousand-one, the Twin Towers came down
The event was blamed on Al-Qaeda
And every man knew, as ol' Dubya did too
'Twas old man bin Laden with his jihad

In two-thousand-three, George Dubya came to Iraq
To finish the job his dad started
In two-thousand-five, New Orleans filled up
On behalf of a mean lady called Katrina
When FEMA came in, they didn't do a darn thing
And the Deep South was all in a shambles
It started in two-thousand and ends in two-oh-nine
'Twas the Wreck of the Bush 'Ministration

Does anyone know where the love of God goes
When our "enemy" blows our troops into pieces
The liberals all say that we'd be better off
With Kerry, Al Gore or Kucinich
We might have pulled through, or we might have gone down
We may go the way of Rome's empire
In two-thousand-nine, Obama will have a handful
With bailouts, our economy and wartime

New Orleans rots, and Iraq burns
Due to the follies of our bad presidente
Afghanistan seems rather obscure these days
For the media pays no attention
And back here at home, old Dee-troit
Is faced with the Big Three* going bankrupt
And the Democrats voted, as the whole world knows
For Barack Hussein Obama in two-thousand-and-eight

In a white mansion in Wash-ing-ton, D.C.
The first black First Family moves in there
A landslide win, in all the Blue states
And some of the red ones, as well, now
The problem lives on, from Wash-ing-ton on down
To the small towns and big cities all over
George Dubya, it's said, never gives up his place
'Til the new Presidente takes office

The subject of this parody is a very good, albeit slightly overused one and it is rather funny, however, the pacing sucks big time and it doesn't really do justice to the OS.

Thanks for the comment, Andria, you're always good for comments and feedback when noone else will reply, as I have seen on other parodies. Was that you who voted the second time? I might submit a revised version, with better pacing and lyrics someday, but then again, maybe not. Thanks too to whoever voted the first time.

Yes, Mr. K, it was me who voted the second time.

I did struggle with the pacing, but it looks like the story got in the way a little. I still thought it was well written and funny but I think political parody is never overused.

Thank you, Timmy1000. Now that I think about it, the story DID get in the way of the pacing.

It wouldn't be an official "Wreck" parody if I didn't at least comment. The sentiment is a 5, but the pacing was a little off, and the rhymes were WAY off. Sacrificing minor factual details for pacing is no crime, which is more than we can say about Bush, not to mention what he sacrificed of ours. The best way to say it is that it's a great idea, not very well executed. I'd rather see this than a good parody praising Bush. By all means, try again.

Thanks, Michael. In my short time at Am I Right, I have noticed that you are a regular contributor, a fan of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", and something of a living legend at that.
