i can see her fryin' back...she is in distress
she's infused with a hue...its a crimson mess
sunburn...you'd better take care
if you're out sunbathin' with your back all bare

you may find you need lotion if your skin is fair

she's been lookin' like a beet, that's been picked and steamed
needs that solarcaine spray, or she'll start to scream
sometimes she don't use her brain
she gets fried like a fritter...in the sun, she's lain
sometimes i think she's aflame
well, she ain't gettin' better and she's surely in pain

it is painful just to move, and she lies awake
she is not up for lovin'...that was my mistake
sunburn...i caused her despair
when my hand went a-creepin' to you-know-where
sometimes you know you can't win
lord, i feel like some sinnin', but she's roasted again

i can see her lookin' stressed...she resents her genes
she's the whitest skinned woman that i've ever seen
sometimes she hates she's a dane
cause she must wear a sweater, 'less she's out in the rain
sunburn...she threw me a scare
cause she's red as a lobster or a highway flare
sunburn...you gotta beware
you may find you're a-peelin' on your back there
sometimes its bad for your skin
and you won't feel like grinnin' when you're burnin' again
