The Lyrics

when the fans came, on that saturday
they all hurried to the door
with beards, long hair and dirty feet
there were hippies, there galore
what a sight to see...they all got in line
whoa, oh...all those freaks were stoned
out of their minds

they'll be soon, dancing wild, with friends
in their drugged paradise
they know all the words by heart
cause they've done this, once or twice
taking LSD...they're in ecstasy
whoa, oh...all these freaks will go
miles, to see jerry

goddam...this isn't fair...have you seen the like ?
they've taken all the posters down
about the band's identity

they heard elton john's band
boy, were they surprised
but what the hell, they're good and stoned
its better than just going home

its a shame, sadly, the crowd agreed
cause they think that elton blows
as a rule, they would not have come
to hear this average joe
its a band, they hate...even when they're straight
whoa, oh...all they want to know
where did the dead go ?

they stood in a lengthy line
lots of drugs, they had consumed
they're not into violence
but they don't enjoy these tunes
this was not their choice..they hate elton's voice
whoa, oh...all they want to know
where is the dead show ?

they heard elton john's band
they were stigmatized
what the hell is this about ?
these are songs, they all despise

they heard elton john's band
they were stupefied
the crowd begins to piss and moan
and finally, they just went back home

la da da da da da....la da da da da

Majorly weird, dude! (But good). You were stoned when you wrote this, right? Hee hee. ;-)
I must admit with some embarassment, that Elton John was the first person I ever saw in concert, way back in 1974... :-0

Alvin Rhodes - You've really got a knack for these longer songs! 5-5-5 once again. Haven't seen too many 'Dead songs parodied here so far. I've been thinking of doing a few, didn't know if anyone would be familiar. So maybe you've opened a new door here. Thanks...

Wonderful Dead parody. BTW, Elton is currently at Caesars in Vegas while Celine is on hiatus. Tickets range from $85 to $250! The last concert I went to was Brian Wilson's Pet Sounds tour at the Chicago Theatre and only paid $35 per person.

Alvin - haven't written any 'Grateful Dead" parodies yet but it's under consideration.
