"Shuckin'"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Since I'm mocking a Grateful Dead song, it's got to be as rambling and weird as they were....
Shuckin', just got oysters in
Start shuckin', pry those shells again
Got people, more or less in line
Must keep shuckin' on

Three rows of seafood, and fishing marquees all on main street
Clam chowder, sea bass, crab legs and it's all on the same street
Your cyclical market, it's all been a typical mob scene
Ring "em up and see what the markup brings

Catfish, got it here on sale
Tuna, and some yellowtail
Mai-mai, right here in the pail
But oysters are for me, oh yes

Most of the time that you buy meat on the street, it's a bargain
Most of the time, no spoilage before you get home
Food from the bay, you know you gotta keep movin'
Buy itcheap here, but you're in a danger zone

Shuckin', like the peanut man
Once told me, try not to cut your hand
Sometimes the cods ain't worth the time
If you can't wolf "em down

Sometimes the guys are making money
Other times can't give it up free
Lately it occurs to me
What a long strange gyp it's been

What in the world ever became of the prawns?
Thought we had dozens, you know? And now they're all gone
Lots of that red snapper for me, (not from Vons)
But it's of those big oysters I am fond

Shuckin' scrapin' shells all day
Place stinking, from all that fishy spray
Use lime, but it don't go away
And just keep shuckin' on

Spittin' and swearin'- out of the lemon wedges
Got a dip and a big lick of the seafood sauce
I'd like to get a taste of all the buffet
And if I still have money, I guess it's gonna go in

Busted, my new pants today
Threw up, all that I shoveled in
Went down, cause I am now slippin'
It just won't stay in me, oh, no

I'm sick from what went down and I'm feelin' dizzy
Got tired of heavin' and I want to settle down
I guess I can't but blame myself for tryin'
To eat the whole place and spew out, now it's all around

Sometimes the guys are making money
Other times can't give it up free
Lately it occurs to me
What a long strange gyp it's been

Chuckin', I'm a makin foam
Whoa, baby, man that odor's strong
Vacuum, I clogged it on a bone
And still I'm chuckin' on
Hey, now get back shuckin' shells

This one seems kinda fishy, in a "5's" kinda way. ~ ~ ~

Great, Rick! Not many Dead parodies around here, huh? This one looks like it would be tough to write to. 555

Duncan delights on climbin' on brie
Other times he can air-leap sea
Lately, it occurs to he
What an odd, strange Rick he's been!

Hmm...rather fishy to me too. 5's :)

Johnny, I know I'm inserting my strange English in here, but what about "What an odd, strange Rick he be"? lol (carry on)

Adagio, you're quite right in that that would continue the "ee" rhyme --- but I was going for a close correspondence to the sound of the original Grateful Dead lyrics...the original lyrics of that verse go like this:

Sometimes the light's all shining on me
Other times I can barely see
Lately, it occurs to me
What a long, strange trip it's been

Right, Johnny. Guess I didn't know the original lyrics.
