The Lyrics

comin' home, not long ago
so many cars, among, you know
they plainly were not movin'
never seen it so screwed
you know, i couldn't break away
it seemed like all i could do was scream
my mind went ka-bloo-ey
a chill ran through me...yeah

"let's get home, fools", i said with no smile
this is not so lovely and home is many miles
these cars are out of hand
cars are out of hand
cars cars cars are out of hand
its a traffic jam

A/C broke...i start to swoon
guess we won't be movin' soon
or maybe we'll never
we could be here forever
summer soon will pass to fall
we might not get out at all
wifey might be worried
lord, i wish they would hurry...yeah

"let's get home, fools", i don't own a cell phone
i cannot call my baby, who is waitin' back at home
says, "where the hell's my man ?
where the hell's my man ?
where where where the hell's my man ?'
in a traffic jam

"let's get home, folks", i said with no smile
i cast a spell of hate on you
i'm really goin' wild
these cars are really crammed
cars are really crammed
cars cars cars are really crammed
its a traffic jam, oh yeah
oh, this wasn't in my plans

"lets get home, folks, i said with no smile
can't believe i'm not home, yet
i've been quite a while
these cars i cannot stand
cars i cannot stand
cars cars cars i cannot stand
its a traffic jam...yeah...oh !

Sounds like the Massachusetts Turnpike at rush hour! 0.555 mph.

As mellow of a person as I generally am...(okay...I'm not mellow)...I have to admit that I get a LITTLE livid in the midst of traffic...bleah! 5s, for you, though...=) Great work, Alvin!

Arwen, they have Traffic Jams in Wyoming? Oh, man, if I didn't have my CD player in the car I would go absolutely stark, raving nuts. Lately almost every time I drive out to my Dad's place (19 miles from my house) it takes nearly an hour to get there...even on weekends.

No, Paul...I should have clarified. There are not traffic jams in Wyoming. (hip hip hooray!) Except on UW game days...and then you don't care...because it's a game day...so you're in a good mood...=)

There were traffic jams, however, in Salt Lake City, where I lived for 4 years...

Nothing makes me madder than traffic jams and bad drivers. And I get to experience them both every single day. Fabulous job, Al! I especially loved "I cast a spell of hate on you."

Good one Alvin, I don't even mind the original so much now (given it's been 25 years or so since I last heard it)!
