The Lyrics

This parody is about the healing and soothing effect pets can have on people. I've left many of the original lyrics alone because they were appropriate. Not because I couldn't think of some new ones. I just couldn't think of better ones than the O.L.'s. My personal philosophy on parodies says it's okay to keep some original elements of a song. Especially, when it comes to expressing things the right way. And many aren't better than Carole King. While Sweet baby James may have sung it better than her; still only she could have written such a timeless O.S. as she did. Am I Right?P.S. Did you hear the one about the three legged dog who walks into the bar and says, "I'm after the man who shot my paw?"
When you're home, befuddled
And you need a power nap
Cause living, whoa living can get uptight
Purse your lips and whistle sweet
And soon their love is there
To whiten out all of those office slights

You just call out thier name
And they'll go where ever you stand [in life] (some do anyway)
They'll come lunging, (hello kitty)
To please you again
Office grief, layoffs, or worse
All you've got to do is purse
And they'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
You've got a pet

If the guy who loved you
Should turn gay and cause you doubts
And the month's crimson should begin its flow
Keep your pet well teathered and stroke your pain out now
And who knows who'll be washing upon your shores?
(The tide of your tears will change)

You just blot out his name
Cause you know where ever you've been
Your pet's waiting to please you again.
Camping trips, outings or parks
All you got to do is hark
And they'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a pet?
People can be so cold
They'll burn you and spurn you.
Well they'll keep you caged if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them.

You just call out their name and they'll go wherever you're at
They'll come lunging to please you again.
Oh hey, don't you know that,
Dinner time, movies, or soaps
Hey now, all you've got to do is coax
And they'll be there, yes they will.
You've got a pet
You've got a pet.
Ain't it good to know you've got a pet
Ain't it good to know you've got a pet
You've got a friend.

I couldn't agree more; your line about people-- "they'll keep you caged if you let them".....oh yes.
