The Lyrics

I find it interesting that some people praise God when anything great happens to them, but when something awful happens, well that's different.
Well, life with a faith means having to pray
And I do it every chance I get each day
For every success, he showed me the way
Thank God for 'most everything

Well, a-watching all the sports is what I like to do
I sometimes like to place a little bet or two
I know the Lord helped my favorite team come through
Thank God for 'most everything

Well, I got me a fine wine, got me some reefer
Life's sure good when you're a solemn believer
Calling Him to help me with that Lotto fever
Thank God for 'most everything

I was going to work on the park and ride
When a big mac truck came and hit me in the side
It could'a been worse, I could'a up and died
Thank God for 'most everything

Then I got laid off from the old factory
They blamed it all on the economy
The union couldn't do a thing for me
Thank God for 'most everything

Well, I got me a fine job, selling some reefer
Life's okay when you're a solemn believer
Calling Him to help me with that Lotto fever
Thank God for 'most everything

I was doing okay till I sorta got caught
For the "man" says that you shouldn't sell pot
They threw me in here where I just might rot
Thank God for 'most everything

Got a cellmate who's a big and mean as a bear
I really don't like it very much "back there"
Got my Bible in my hand when I'm over the chair
Thank God for 'most everything

Well, I got me a bad rap, from a little reefer
Life's real tough when you're a solemn believer
Calling Him to help me with my wide receiver
Thank God for 'most everything

Thanks Dave and Mari for inspiration if no one likes it. If it's a big hit, I'd like to thank the Almighty. (Whoever that is)

The God I personally believe in has the best Sense Of Humor in the Universe, regardless of what any human beings or written materials might say....... so I give this parody a Trinity Of Fives...... God bless you, Rick - (COSMIC LAUGHTER IN THE BACKGROUND - "AH- HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! WELL DONE, HUMAN CREATURE.... I COULD USE A GOOD LAUGH THESE DAYS! ")

High Fives...no, a little higher than that. Then there's the Grammy Awards. "Roight! We'd liketa fank God for makin' our latest album, "Satanic Metal Heads From Hell" a ...whut?...why's every'body bloddy larfin'?".

I'm glad you were able to laugh at this Dave. We really aren't out to persecute believers, just point out the hypocricy. What you said about the Grammys is exactly what I'm talking about here. I'd hate to think that any God that people thank is influencing the direction of today's music or awards shows or the outcomes of baseball games.

Very clever commentary Rick. I loved the 'ending' - pun intended... ;-)

Boy this guy met with a bad end. Five fingers from Paul's glove.

I was reluctant to use this song because I just love Claude's "Ain't Got Me A Bungee Cord", but one takes one's inspiration where it comes.

Great job on the parody! I read your parody, now how bout you read mine? "Come On Over" to the Shania Twain section and "Check It Out"

Rick...I know people like this, who treat God as a 'magical Daddy'. Sure, He can fix that football game, lotto, etc., all the while they go about not even pretending to be good, or trying for that matter. This was a good parody....good words!

Great Job!

Rick D - God told me this was funny, but I noticed when I "fived" it I was the 13th voter. Do you think that's a bad omen? I can't decide anything for myself and God won't tell me. What did I do with my "Magic Eight-Ball" ? Maybe I can go to the store and get some animal entrails to help me figure this out. Oh, wait, that was all BULLSHIT! I liked it, 13 is only unlucky if that's how many "good buddies" that cell-mate of yours has that he always shares with. "Magic Eight-Balls" are no more accurate than political pundit predictiions and animal entrails don't help you read future but are gross and stinky. Glad I finally thought that one through.

DKTOS, but I can guess... loved it, Rick, and love the sentiment in which it's written. Guess He must love it too, from the scoring :-)

I know TOS now, having just parodied it in a similar vein... still brilliant :-)

Being a spiritual person.... this is not offensive - I quite liked it. So often we mortals think we can rely on the heavens above for answers; & all we get is guidance! I think this parody just reminds us not to get caught up in our egos, keep it humble & pay attention to the natural laws in order to keep our spirits up!
