The Lyrics

The way I shee it, I burped
I jush can't schtop it
I am a big drinker to hide the pain
I can't seem to quit
There are many daysh I'm falling on down
You ashk me why
And it's none of your bishiness
Dere'sh a lot of people say go to A. A.
Dey're trying to fix my head
Dey're trying to clear up my head today

I am a bar man embarrassed
I'm getting drunk in some old dive
There is nobody pulling me from the gutter
And nothing that I can call pride
I'll have a hangover tomorrow
Pay for the jerk I have become
Talking to bartenders and scenery
I'm not a popular bum

I order up glashes
Until the pain pashes
I used to wonder what I did it for
Now I don' care
I jusht walk through those doors
And flounder
Down the old Jack Daniels
Going from carefree to comatoshe
Drinking until I get thingsh from
That very good friend of rum

I am a bar man embarrassed
I'm getting drunk in some old dive
There is nobody pulling me from the gutter
And nothing that I can call pride
I'll have a hangover tomorrow
Pay for the jerk I have become
Talking to bartenders and scenery
I'm not a popular bum

I can just hear Joni singing this, and I see we're on the same boozy page today. Is it Fridays that make us post songs about drinking? Great job! 555

I have a cd which this song is on, and it's a tricky little number, to write a parody to. Good job.

Great job, Rick...Royce is right about this being a hard OS to work with...a lot of Joni's songs are...which makes them kind of fun to try. ..which gives me opportunity to ask (and plug...lol), did you see my piece on "Blue" a few weeks back.? It uses the melody/song structure of "Blue" with Graham Nash's "Marrakesh Express"...with a few other things thrown in...It's called "Mooing-Phooey; Goin' to Marrekesh"...Anyway, if you get a chance take a look-see...BTW - I know you hate vocal overlays, but it came out really good when I did one of it about a week ago...OH...and I'm buying you a fresh round of 5's here, buddy...But I think that maybe you should call a Big Yellow Taxi when you need to go home...

I saw it. And the thought of you singing Joni Mitchell makes me think of what it might be like if a bear tried bird calls. (Likewise for myself. Thats why I have a cute 17-year-old to sing them for me)

Rick, I don't suppose you could loan me that cute 17-year old, could you? (Just for singing purposes, of course, mind you...lol). Just wrote another to one of Joni's "Blue" Album songs...not quite ready to post it yet, needs a little polishing and maybe a little trimming around a couple of edges...
