The Lyrics

If you were in the November 2005 SOTM Contest you've already seen my parody "Santaclaustrophobia's My Psycho Diagnosis". (If not, this is the URL: www.amiright.com/parody/60s/julieandrewsmarypoppins12.shtml). This here new parody is an alternative take (some of the rhymes and the general idea are the same) that I'll now post so that all of you that voted me all the way up to a bronze medal (Thanx!) will get further insight into my certifiable state, i.e that it was deserved (according to Amiright standards). ;-)

BTW: Happy New Year Everyone!
Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis
Waiters serving fresh hors d'oeuvres will trigger a psychosis
Scruffy pans and radishes and pumpkins look ferocious
Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis!

Because I used to grab the grub when I was still a mince
My siblings kicked me in the balls and they've been meaty since
And on that morning I did puke and 'came a kook with food
Now eating fear has made me queer, at dinners I get stewed

Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis
Spicy hot will make me squat and trigger a psychosis
Save me from the garlicy ol' Frech Brie mold necrosis
Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis!

I've travelled all around the world and everywhere I came
I tried the local dishes, but it ended up the same
I cramped like epileptics, once a puked in a cop's car
He threw me in a slammer where salamis were bizarre

Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis
White meat sauce and burri-toes will trigger a psychosis
Save me from the kidney pies and butter bean sclerosis
Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis!

If Swedish Chef from Muppet Show should come I am not here
I've bought my own distillery to drink away my fear
From Nobel Dinner recipes and Naked Chefs I'll shun
I'm getting anorexia, cirrhosis and the runs!

Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis
"Peas to man" will make me shrill and trigger a psychosis
Save me from the pizza, beer and TV symbiosis
Smorgasborderline's my other psycho diagnosis!

A few of the lines didn't make sense to me, but I still got a good laugh from this. Now that NOV SOTM is over, I have to ask why leave out the "Um Diddly.." and spoken parts? Not that I mind at all them missing, just curious.

Red Ant: I’m lazy! Well, actually not, I do have reasons but the spoken parts and the ”Um Diddly...” are three different things so I’ll have to answer that question in three parts.

The first spoken part is left out for the same reason as I would leave out the spoken parts added to the video of Metallica’s ”One” if I’d ever parody that song, it basically belongs to the movie/video, I’d never expect to hear it in a live performance. I don’t consider it to really be a part of the song.

The second spoken part goes where a regular line should be, and I did cover it with emphasis on perfect pacing my first time around with this song (When the corne is out of Park and Venton) so I’m no against it per se, but just like in the majority of parodies to this song (or so I think, I haven’t counted) I’ve found it to be a trade off between pacing and the effect of staying with the flow and rhymes where the overall balance greatly favours the latter alternative.

The ”Um Diddly...”: Well, it’s so annoying that it best be left out, or kept as is for humorous effect, unless one can come up with something really original that hasn’t been done with it already AND vary THAT all over the place TOO. And at this point, with TOS on or close to the used Top 10 list, that’s like looking for a needle in a haystack without getting more than a minor extra sting out of it even if you find one.

Well, as for the first spoken part, I haven't heard seen the movie in ages and most MP3s don't include it, so that's cool.

As for the second, I've left out parts like that as well, namely all 3 Major-General parodies I've done where on the PoP CD (and, assuming the original version too) have a few spoken lines, which kind of disrupt the flow of TOS a bit as you say.

As for the Um Diddly blah blah part, I'm glad you left those out. Since you placed 3rd in SOTM even leaving those out, I'm guessing everyone else was too or didn't miss them one bit. :-)

Speaking as a Decade Police officer, I happen to know that TOS is from the 60's, not the 70's. Speaking as myself, I think this is a very clever parody, and so I must give it a perfect 5,5,5 vote.

Having done TOS twice before I should've been aware of that, maybe I slipped when selecting on the drop-down menu. My bad. :-(
