Song Parodies -> "Where Do the Shiites Play?"

Original Song Title:

"Where Do the Children Play?"

Original Performer:

Jusef Muhammed (Cat Stevens)

Parody Song Title:

"Where Do the Shiites Play?"

Parody Written by:

Tim Tarker

The Lyrics

Parody was written about 14 years ago, and was directed more at Iran than Iraq, but... Disclaimer: JM (or Cat Stevens) is a pacifist and does NOT condone violence or terrorism and was taken out of context when quoted as saying the Ayatollah's fatah on Salmon Rushdie must be justifiable.
Well I think it's fine
Blowin' up jumbo planes;
Sending Exocet missiles
Into the Gulf shipping lanes.
Switch to Mecca
For the evening bells;
Rest of the time (if there's time)
You work on the oil cartel.

I know we've come a long way.
Praise Allah every day.
But tell me, where do the Shiites play?*

Well you roll your roads
Over our fresh brown sand,
And when some bus explodes
You claim you don't understand.
But it can't be wrong!
No, it must be just!
'Cause the group that claims responsibility
Are well-intentioned terrorists.

I know we've come a long way.
(May be more than Terry Waite would say.)
But tell me, where do the Shiites play?

Will Iraq ally
With the Jordanians?
Will Salmon Rushdie
Ever get a chance to buy more insurance?
Did Qaddafi laugh
When Khomeni died?
Are tomorrow's youth prepared for
Holy Suicide?

I know we've come a long way.
The price of oil rises every day.
But tell me, where do the Shiites play?

Do do do do do do or die die die die die die.
Do do do do do do or die die die die die die.
