The Lyrics

there's some ladies who're poor, cleaning my glitter gold
then they're cleaning the stairway together
when they get there they know, any wood that's exposed
gets the murphy's oil soap, or there's what for..
then they're cleaning the stairway together

when they wash down the walls, I can always be sure
perfect job or there will be two cleanings
pick up socks, sort the books, and arrange all my things
and then all of those gifts I've been given
oooh baby don't you blunder
ooooh don't sweep it under....

there's a feeling I get when my place looks it's best
and I peel off the cash as they're leaving
in my kitchen it seems, rings of smoke they did leave
and some grease from the last day of cooking
ooh this is such a blunder
ooh they'll be six feet under

there's no whispers, I'm sure, when the job done was poor
what I paid for not done as they're leaving
now they must apron don as they will now clean on
and I stand there with beer and some laughter

if there's dust bunnies where they did grow,I'd be alarmed now
this is a poor clean for the maid queens
yes there are two maids you can go buy, but get a good one,
there's still time to clean the floor you're on
and she makes a blunder

the vacuum's humming as the dirt goes, to where I don't know
the other's calling her tojoin in
hey Doris, time to do the stair row, so come along now
this stairway's dry and the oil's now in..

and as the vacuum bag unloads
my cufflinks down among the load
now this bad lady has to go
she wants her pay but I say no!
now I check if she has taken gold
this inventory thing is hard
the count will come to me at last
there's every one, I have it all..
now that's a shock she has a soul..

and they're cleaning the stairway together

Malcolm - You really kept this one clean for a change, you dirty sweat shop runnin' frikin' miser of a penny pincher. Go and scrub your butt 555 times with a brillo pad and find out what it's really like to clean up. Don't forget the "H" when you're done, you'll need it. Great play on the words in this mellow rock classic. - I really liked it.

Really good, can't believe it doesn't have more votes! A tough rock epic to take on, great job.

Malcolm- I agree wholeheartedly with Guy because this one isn't as "dirty" as the rest (If you like dirty parodies, check out my "He Knocked Me Up In A Chevy Van" or just about anything by AFW or Darrell Wilhelm), and I order you to scrub your whole body from head to toe with a wire brush and lye soap to find out what it is like to be cleaned like I clean my truck, my siding and my appliances. Here's another vote- 555!
