 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Obama Wants Change"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

The Lyrics

obama wants change
and joe biden supports his role
obama wants change
and joe biden supports his role
election time came 'round
and republicans went down
whaddaya know
they had to go

some odd folks say
that the GOP is great
that's grim
they're a crowd out of date
and if you think they're top rate
its a sin
there just ain't no excusin'
a democrat we choose
a clever gent
i'll say it again

overhauled because
obama wants change
and joe biden supports his role
obama wants change
and joe biden supports his role
election time came 'round
and republicans went down
whaddaya know
they had to go

obama was a shoe-in
he had a certain spark
he jumped into a fast lead
while other's hopes grew dark
to washington he moved
and he'll listen to our pleas
there's a light in his eyes
a noble guy
get out of our lives, dubya
whoo-ee
we're finished with thee
and that's fine by me

overhauled because
obama wants change
and joe biden supports his role
obama wants change
and joe biden supports his role
election time came 'round
and republicans went down
whaddaya know
they had to go
whaddaya know
they had to go
whaddaya know
they had to go

Great parody. It tells a good story of Obama and Biden stealing the Republicans' thunder, which is absolutely true. 5s.
Poli-tick-ly Incorrect - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
I didn't like this parody at all, so I'll have to vote all 1s. Andria must be confused about the Democrats stealing the Republicans thunder. That is false. One in five Republicans stayed home because McCain was too bi-partisan and reached across the aisle too much. The popularity of Obama will fade as his destructive policies slowly destroy the economy and massive deficits accrue. Get your facts right, people!
Finger Wagger - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
PI,you're a moron. The idea is to vote on the parody itself, not use the voting process as a means to express your opinions. Why don't you try putting those into a parody and vote based on the defined categories?
TJC - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
Great right's-wrong write here, alvin... and I heartily concur with Finger Wagger's sentiments

As one who should know, 1-bombs mean nothing, only the 555's count. Great job, Alvin!!! 555's for you!!!
Timmy1000 - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
The parody mirrored the OS and was funny - certainly worthy of 555. Politics are always a good target for parody; I agree with FW - this is a parody site; if you disagree with thoughts, do a song as an opposing viewpoint.
alvin - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
thanks andria...thanks PI...always happy to disturb...thanks finger wagger....there's always the chance on getting 1s when you submit a parody on politics...actually i take it as a compliment...thanks TJC...yup....thanks leo..indeed...thanks timmy....good point

I'm not surprised Politickly incorrect didn't like this parody, but I enjoyed it, and agreed with it. Finger Wagger-- because doing so would go against the logic of judgemental people who are unable to look past petty differences, unlike you and me, some people don't understand that pacing=pacing. . .:) 555s from this corner!
Christie Marie M - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
All hail Barack Obama!! Great job on this political piece! I've also been 1-bombed on my last parody, but I saw it as nothing. I took that as a compliment like you did. I loved the way you paralleled the OS as well, like you always have done. :) 555!
Tommy Turtle - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
To all those supporting FW: the problem is, it doesn't seem to work the other way around, most of the time. I. e., parodies spoofing the Left or supporting the Right get 1-bombed constantly Check PI's parody yesterda - he was a victim of the Unabomb - where were your protests in his favor?. So practice what you preach.

Yes, I disagree with the content, and yes, this is a hilarious re-write. 555, no question. Will be watching to see if it works both ways.

Well, TT when I've read your stuff that was republican I was open minded and didn't 1 you out because your opinion was different from my own. While there are a lot of people hotly divided over politics, I've tried my best not to get involved in flame war type parodies. PI reminds me of another ultra-conservative parodist of the past and I find the few of his/her parodies to have gone to far--so I don't read them, unlike yours where though I may not always agree with your political viewpoint, actually to be honest you and I are on different sides of the spectrum--but I respect your work and you present your opinion in a way that doesn't offend me, which as I've said on your parody I can respect. . .I'm not trying to get involved in heated politics of the nature 'politically incorrect' writes. .When getting involved with other extreme political parodists (no names-but the people in mind are no longer active) it was like arguing with a brick wall, that's why I'm not putting up posts on Politically Incorrect's parodies, I don't get involved when my words will heed no attention or care--I've got better things to do with my time then post an opposing view in hostile territory that is not open to differences of opinion.

At least the troll had the courage to identify himself. Obama says "yo mama" to him and keep up the parodies, alvin.
John Jenkins - February 20, 2009 - Report this comment
2Eagle is correct. In a way, you have to give PI credit for identifying himself as the giver of 1s. Most givers of 1s cowardly remain anonymous.

But, PI, as someone who enjoys spoofs of the left more than spoofs of the right, I’ve got to tell you that you really should give this parody a 5 for pacing. If you want to give it a 5-3-3, that might be defensible. I might have given it a 5-4-4 because, although the substitutions are outstanding, it does not have any memorable funny lines and is a bit repetitious. But, to partially make up for PI’s 1s and also to reflect the degree of difficulty of the original song, I am endowing this parody with 5s.

Also, BAD, which of TT’s parodies would you identify as “Republican?” I think TT pokes fun at both the political left and right, but his frame of reference seems to be more Libertarian than Republican.
Tommy Turtle - February 21, 2009 - Report this comment
Agree completely with 2Eagle and JJ that PI gets points for speaking openly instead of the usual anonymous flames and bombs. Also that pacing should be distinguished from content, which 1-voters almost never do.

Also appreciate BAD comments that I try to frame my political parodies in some decent, facetious manner rather that as vitriolic flame, and that there were some people here (mostly gone, thank goodness, as BAD notes) who wrote hate instead of satire. There is a huge difference. Thanks for noting the difference, Dave, and I agree with you that there is no reasoning with such people and it's a waste of one's time to do so.

alvin and Below Average Dave: I will confirm JJ's insight: I dislike *both* "major" parties. (My Palin parodies were mostly 'cuz I wanted to **** the **** out of her.) I've been a registered Libertarian since I was old enough to vote, and a philosophical libertarian since I was old enough to think.

I would also like to note that AFW has twice in the past three days noted that he disagreed with the political slant of my song, but 5'd the parodic quality of it. Thanks, AFW, and a good example for the rest of us to follow.

Finally: alvin, to paraphrase Voltaire: I may not agree with what you said, but I laughed like h*ll at the way you said it :-) ... although, as JJ said, it would have been even better had the choruses been varied. You're incredibly creative and could have done so easily, doubling the laugh quotient. Write on, bro!
Now for the nit-picking - February 21, 2009 - Report this comment
It's "shoo-in', not "shoe-in" :) :) :) .... and wasn't it in fact Hillary who was considered the shoo-in (or shoe-in Bill's butt), since early 2007? As one reporter put it, "This won't be an election, it'll be a coronation". -- an attitude of overconfidence which allowed Obama to seize the lead, for which I commend him, along with his oratorical skills and political shrewdness. Signed, The Grammarian (you know who).

Cool, I too hate both parties, I tend to be left on most social issues, more moderate on economic issues, but neither party suit my fancy. Thanks TT and JJ. . .John--Off hand I don't recall the two I disagreed with but they were written respectfully, and without hate as yours are also written. . .but I love the writing style regardless, and it's differences of opinion that spark healthy conversation and debate so when it's respectfully presented regardless I really enjoy reasoning and rationalizing opinions and standpoints. I view myself as "Not Politically Affiliated" . . .
Timmy1000 - February 21, 2009 - Report this comment
B.A.D. - I'm with you. Both parties seem to be out for themselves and friends. We will all live (or die) as one. Unfortunately, people I have known that would do a tremendous job of running things are too smart to try and do so. Again, I think all politics are fair targets for satire.
Tommy Turtle - February 21, 2009 - Report this comment
Below Average Dave: You've described the Libertarian Party's views pretty well: the Gov stays out of our private lives, and we run a moderate and balanced budget. Check out lp.org - you might find a home there.

Timmy1000: As one author noted, "No one who deserves to win an election can do so", or something like that. See above comment to BAD -- try lp.org. Let's give people a viable alternative - now. Cheers to both -- TT.
