The Lyrics

Yeah sure...right...well, opposites attract they say
City keeps on building
Losing the road and we can't win
Singing songs about the Dis'land
I miss Disney World once again
And I think its a sin, yes

Well I heard mister Nell rap about her
Well, I heard Bryan put her down
Well, I hope Nelly will remember
A Northern dude don't need this around anyhow

Sweet home Carolina
With the skies Tar Heel blue
Sweet Home Carolina
Lord, I need home not you

In Hornets Nest they love to screw us
Now I just did what I had to
Now the school board does not bother me
Does your 'cation bother you?
"Tell me true"

Sweet home Carolina
Where I'm finished and I'm through
Sweet Home Carolina
Lord, I'm leaving home 'cause you
Here I come, Florida

Now Charlotte has got the Panthers
And they've been known to win a game or two
Man they 'cite me just so much
They pick me up when I'm black for blue
Now how about you?

Sweet home Carolina
Where the Hornets were booed
Sweet Home Carolina
Lord, I'm no longer home to you

Sweet home Carolina
Hurr'cane's home baby
With the skies Tar Heel blue
And the Panther's rule
Sweet Home Caorlina
Lordy
Lord, I'm leaving home 'cause you
Yea, yea Matt Dorherty's not the answer

This song was referred to in a Novel. An absolutely brilliant novel too. I had to research the difference to the original, being Australian I can see why this song didn't hit the Aussie Top 40, but I still had to let you know that this parody deserves acknowledgement. There is a long time since the last comment but thought you'd be curious to know that your parody might gain international fame due to this novel. ### FYI: For the curious readers.# Title: the Summer Guests# Author: Mary Alice Monroe# ISBN-13: 978-1-4328-6721-8# Publisher: Thorndike Press, 2019# Large Print, page 474# Quoted from the novel:# 'Elise sat across from Karl at a pub in Landrum. A local band was playing "Sweet Home Carolina" and the locals were joining in with the chorus. She couldn't believe Karl had never heard of the song.'### ----- And on the flip side, it might be a completely different song. I may never know. But you could still gain fame from all the inquisitive reader's that land on this page.---cheers Safari
