Parody Song Title:

"7 In 1 Swipe"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Written to this OS
Grindin' out this tripe
Mixed up in a smoosh
A run at 7 in 1 swipe

Primed to rhyme and type
Lit up on the booze
Another rummy gettin' tight

Stymied neophyte
Slipped up like a n00b
I knew that somethin' wasn't right

(Ah-ah-ah-ah)

Bad news, helter skelter, swelter in the shelter
With a teenage broncin' buck
In the dark, reading Marx, as the quartet in the park
Had strayed into my truck

With the dishes so delicious, some of them nutritious
My guests were laying around
While this very prevailin' gale it was wailin'
The Fitzgerald collapsed and it drowned

The Fitzgerald collapsed and it drowned

And I just...
Plied my rhymes so bright
Read up on the spoofs
Of other punners that I liked

Whined and cried all night
Fed up with the goofs
Another rum to get it right

Tried with all my might
Pent up on the juice
Another hundred lines to write

Grindin' out this tripe
Left up to a muse
I never trusted in the night

Some syllable twister with a mannerly whisper
Told me I'd made a mistake
He said "For sure you're not funny, there's something wrong
There's no thong on the buns you bake"

And young Chip one-quip was checkin' out the candlesticks
To see if he should make a move
While little silhouetto got high on his amaretto
And asked me, could I bleat out a fugue

Asked me, could I bleat out a fugue

Well I kept...
Findin' lines so trite
Stepped up to reduce
The major 7 to 1 write

Grindin' out this tripe...

3 quarts downed, but I never got wired
I'm gonna pace and proof it tight
I'm gonna make it through this write

[Long boring instrumental break]

But mama, that's where the wind blows
But mama, that's where the wind blows
Mama always told me not to look into the sky for the wind
But mama, that's where the wind blows

[A little chopsticks]

(Ah-ah-ah-ah)

This jocose, varicose, manic psycho, comatose
Tweaker of my beak
Said, "So verbose, this mega-toast, sing it like the Holy Ghost
Overcome your fear to speak"

And some pseudo-castle-host was yappin' 'bout the dinner
Braggin' it came from France
While his guest posed unclothed, was testin' out the roast and scones
Deciding to take a chance

Aristophanes trashed Gerard Dows

Still I kept...
Grindin' out this tripe
Sped up to produce
Before the sun was shinin' bright

Fin'lly got it right
Leapt up like a goof
An utter stunner of a write

[The following two sections are sung simultaneously]

- - -

[1]
Bye bye rhymes with pie
Chevved up on the hooch
And other liquors such as rye

Dined with deepest pride
Fed up on ragout
And other dishes that I tried

Life is my landslide
Messed up, scaramouch'd
Another devil put aside

Cited all the crimes
Veg'd up, lot o' news
A major-gen'ral, modern times

Mindless change of life
Swept up by the dukes
And now me lover is me wife

Whitecaps, ship capsized
Wrecked up like a sloop
And sorely pummelled by the tide

7 in 1 swipe
Kept up on the smoosh
Until the ending was in sight

Grindin' out this tripe...

- - -

[2]
Bad news, shiver, quiver, papers I delivered
Like a teenage businessman
In a slump like a chump as the addled lesson dumped
Its weight into my can

With a goal to be a soldier, be a medal holder
I took the easy way out
With this very disturbin', burpin' and jerkin'
My sobriety crashed into doubt

Miz Potts with some kumquats fin'lly downed the Jester snot
And crowed a love song to his band
And some butt-squat Sir Caradoc was babblin' like a beer sot
"Take your best shot, learn what you can"

Some silver-tongued kisser with a mannequin's figure
Told me a lot was at stake
She said "I'll turn you on, Leo, to my pink thong"...

- - -

I got done with the 7 required
I'm gonna make it...Am I right?

(ABC) Incre-freaking-credible! Hard for a non-Amirighter to comprehend half of this, but then, who comprehends the OS anyway? :)

Ok. . .well Leo, I hope you don't take this to heart or anything, because it was an expertly written song, as I read this I couldn't help but feel like it was kinda made so site specific that if recorded, it wouldn't really get the laughs (I've done it so I'm not saying that it's necessarily a really bad thing, just something I notice on songs that I feel could be 'signature songs' for a parodist--furthermore there were three such songs in this round--so it's actually very common). I enjoyed it, and the rhyming was mostly there. I have recorded a version of this song or I probably wouldn't have caught the few very minor mishaps, because this song is the only "Big 7" song that I really consider to be a challenge, thus I always appreciate when someone does it with skill, which you have.

Don't know what I was blinded by the day this masterpiece was posted. "Blinded By The Light" was one of those songs that seemed to get longer every time I heard it on the radio ("You Can't Hide Your Lyin' Eyes" is another). This is the longest version yet. I don't think anyone is doing the Big Seven anymore. I did a "Major General" and a couple of "Fitzgeralds". My attempts at "American Pie" did not find favour with Tommy and by then I had used up the only story I had for it, so I never tried again. Your efforts at the more obscure, and much longer "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts" and "Chimes of Freedom" will never be topped. Agrimorfee's comment "Who comprehends the OS anyway?" sums up my view of BBTL pretty well. It took a few years, but I'm glad I caught up with this parody.

Thanks, Patrick! There never were that many authors who completed all seven of the Big7. I did a search on the various titles and found only 16. If you want to take another shot at American Pie, how about a tribute to TT, entitled "The Terrapin Guy?" I thought of using that myself, but you were much closer to him than I was and thus much better qualified to do the tribute. Look for a St. Patrick's Day parody from me on Monday (assuming I get it done by then).
