The Lyrics

Okay, a few items: Peregrin is submitting this under a single name as he and Merry have a long standing agreement that together, we would only do comedy. This parody just kept flowing once the title appeared in my head. It is not a funny subject and is not meant to be funny as a parody. It was simply something I felt compelled to put on paper once I began. Lastly, as I am from the land of Green and Gold, rather than that of the Red, White & Blue, please excuse any factual misunderstandings I may have inadvertently introduced...I researched it as best I could.
Midnight out with the racists
Burning embers descend
Bedsheets hidin' their faces
Traces of nothing in their heads

Kevin's holdin' a harpoon
Ty, a blunderbuss
Jed, he's forming a platoon, (of) buffoons
It's sick, much to my disgust

Come on, Ku Klux Klan pretends
"Here's the righteous way"
Crap on, KKK intends
To rid the place of blends

Hide behind this answer:
"There's freedom to speak"
The First Amendment's big err, (is to) confer
Their right to havoc, wreak

The Yellow Jackets and Redcaps
Were models for them though
They drew their name from a Greek Word, it is absurd
'Kyklos', if you must know

But anti-semitism, honey
Continues to divide
And they don't give a damn, no - no, so
We must take and cast aside

Come on, KKK's a trend
We must get out the way
Come on, cannot comprehend
Those who would defend

Midnight out with the racists
End the clanner deadheads
Got bedsheets hidin' their faces
Space filled with nothing in their heads

Oh, come on

cleverly written

Very fine wordplay... I love the contrast of the subject matter with my imprinted memory of Maria Muldar's (sp?) etherial melifulous voice....
Spelling Cop - July 18, 2006 - Report this comment

Even tho' I could not get into the subject matter, and like to keep our own stuff light, I nevertheless think this is a fine piece of work on Pippin's part! Good job.

An improvement on the original and, like TJC said, imagining Maria Muldaur singing it makes a big contrast

Another politically correct interpretation - that will get their white hoods off - thanks for making it clear once and for all.

brilliant title sub, Pip! once you came up with that you HAD to honour it - you could have written it with a Cronulla theme too I suppose, but then the Yanks wouldn't have gotten it at all - 555

Memo to Susan V : No, I'm from Australia. In our case (and New Zealand's for example) national colours do not match national flags :)
