The Lyrics

This song should be sung by everyone on every Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. day, including those who oppose equal rights. Also, this parody is written by me to commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s death (2018.) King died due to assassination by a Caucasian man named James Earl Ray (1928-1998) on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. King is African-American.
1st Verse:
There's a man of them all
Equal justice for us
That's Martin Luther Ki-ing
He fought out all that mess
Southern segregation
That's Martin Luther Ki-ing
The sixties, things weren't right
Now the dream comes close at hand
And now unity opens up
Brighter days are comin' up
Children are leading us now
That's Martin Luther Ki-ing

Whooooooooooooaaaahhhhh!
Woooooooooooooooooooooah
oh, oh, ohhhh, whooooooooa
Whoa, oh ,oh hoooooooooooo
Ohhhh, ohhh, ho, ooooooooooh

2nd Verse:
More, and more to add to that
The man with big insight
Who draws big conclusions
That's Martin Luther Ki-ing
Who has a dream
That's not deferred
The sunshine of our nation
Oooooh, that's Marti-in Luther King
He's the man, a big bold heart
Discrimination all gone
Don't you think he's a good man, now
That's the end of this poem
The sunshine of all mankind
That's Martin Luther Ki-ing

Oooooooooh, ooooooh that's Marti-in Luther King
Woaaaaaaaaaaah, that's Martin Luther Ki-iiiiiiiing!

Dreams do really come true oohhhhhhhh oohhhhhhhhh
(til fade)

At first, Maze was known as "Raw Soul." They recorded a few singles on the small Gregar label, but none of their singles were charted yet. In 1971, Beverly moved his ensemble to San Francisco, California. Later, Motown soul singer Marvin Gaye took the group on tour with him and featured them as one of his opening acts. In 1976, under recommendation by Marvin Gaye, lead singer Frankie Beverly rechristened the group from Raw Soul to Maze. Frankie Beverly was born on December 6, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
