 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Moody Blues

Parody Song Title:

"White Guys Ain't Rappin'"

Parody Written by:

Guy DiRito

The Lyrics

White guys ain't rappin',
They're not speeching the blend,
I'm not admittin',
Or trying to pretend,
Booty and someone dissed,
Are tales that they score.
just so uncooth is,
They don't sing anymore.
Cause they used to,
Yes they used to,
Sing soul and the blues.

Groups like deep purple,
Some hard rock band.
But groups like 2 live crew,
Just dump in the sand.
So don't try to sell me,
This trash that they penned.
Who is it pays their fee?
I can't comprehend.
Cause they used to,
Yes they used to,
Sing sweet soul and the blues.

You did a good job on this. Where's the spoken part at the end? (my favorite) :D
Guy DiRito - July 05, 2003 - Report this comment
You silly or what? This was a parody on rap. Can't do 'spoken' parts in this one. LOL Thanks for the kudos.
Pat - July 05, 2003 - Report this comment
Guess it would lose the impact with the spoken part. :/ (Darn...lol)
Wild Man - July 07, 2003 - Report this comment
The only emotion in Rap music is anger. I miss the good old R & B tunes also. Those preformers could take even the weakest lyrics and turn them into a work of art. You could feel their pain, Man! Good song Guy!
Pat - July 07, 2003 - Report this comment
You're right about rap and anger, wild man.
Michael Pacholek - July 07, 2003 - Report this comment
Can't do the spoken part? Guy, in order to parody "Nights In White Satin," you MUST "breathe deep the gathering gloom." Or else you get an Incomplete. It would be like doing only four of the six verses of "American Pie." And you can't get away with that unless you're Weird Al. And, as that great former Senator from your State, Lloyd Bentsen, would say, "Senator, you're no Al Yankovic."

So the message here is that black guys should go back to singing "sweet soul and the blues"?
Wild Man - July 09, 2003 - Report this comment
Not really, We don't wan't to ban Rap. The music world needs diversity. We are just commenting on our choice not to enjoy it.
2Live4U - July 09, 2003 - Report this comment
"They used to / Yes they used to / Sing sweet soul and the blues." The "they" in this must mean black guys, because you've already stated that "white guys ain't rappin'". Correct?
Wild Man - July 10, 2003 - Report this comment
Those preformers, In my above comment, reffered to are of all persons in that paticular genre, and not ment to single out any one racial group.
Hoeveel - July 10, 2003 - Report this comment
I've heard more than anger as an emotion in rap. :/
Guy DiRito - July 10, 2003 - Report this comment
2Live4U, And your point is???
Hoeveel - July 10, 2003 - Report this comment
If that's what he was saying then i agree. I was saying a similar thing to my mate actually. Black people should go back to doing Blues, Jazz etc. Hip-Hop sort of has possibilities to it, lyrically, but i think musically they did a lot better in the old days. But as my mate responded 'Which one are they going to make money off, though?'
2Live4U - July 11, 2003 - Report this comment
Civics lesson: Black people are not some homogeneous mass. It's a bit discriminatory to say what you wish "they" would do, don't you think?
Guy DiRito - July 11, 2003 - Report this comment
The "They" that the parody refers to is obvious - "But groups like 2 live crew". The parody is obviously referring to the gangster type element within the rap music industry. I would have used eminem had it fit the pace and the rhyme scheme. And I probably should have used two 'T's in the word 'but' in this line, but y'all know how I have trouble sometimes with my speiling.
Hoeveel - July 11, 2003 - Report this comment
I never said they were a homogenous mass. I'm talking about black music. It wasn't my idea to label it all 'black music'...what's the name of that awards ceremony Music Of Black Origin awards? And as to it being discriminatory to say what i think they should do. Not really, i have ideas on what most cultures should do.

Great tilte, and well done. But I've kind of grown to like rap... at least writing rap lyrics is fun. We should have some kind of 8 Mile style rap dissing contest for the middle-aged white men and women here. Somebody pick a topic, say... golf, or rectal exams, and everybody tries to writes a rap song about it. It would be a riot.

Now this is the parody Doreen and Carl should read!
Mason - May 17, 2004 - Report this comment
I doubt the rappers you're referring to (probably about 10% of the genre) ever did soul and blues.
