The Lyrics

When we all have "free" healthcare, there will be another free benefit awaiting us. Neil Diamond wrote the original. UB40's version is the one that seems to float around in my head. Pick whichever you like, or maybe someone else's rendition
Dread, breadline
Moving ahead
It reminds me that I
Still need help so

Dread breadline
Standing in queue
What I must do, no fun
The hunger won't go
The hunger won't go

Had a home
Had a phone
I could buy
Food on my own
Thanks to that
Democrat
At least I
Am not so fat

Dread breadline
Friends close to me
Losing weight while we wait
A silver lining
To this gray cloud

This gray, gray cloud

But we'll have achieved utopia...we'll all be EQUALLY destitute! ;D

I commend the poetry, if not the politics

I said a long time ago what OMR said:
"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery." - TT

Agree with John Barry... *Great* title switch! (And with Winston Churchill's perspicacity.)

If we don't keep our sense of humor we really are doomed. If anything separates the left from the right, it may be what we laugh at. I liked your take on "Depression of '09". You say you don't know the original, so you missed some pacing errors even I caught. Check it out on youtube. You'll have a parody faster than I can say "Look What I've Done to Their Songs, Moi".
