The Lyrics

Remember Jennifer Wilbanks, the Runaway Bride from Georgia? I wrote most of this parody on 5/5/05--and here we're not far from 8/8/08! Story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runaway_bride_case OS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7D65IomNYY
Stuck inside this wedding.
Sentenced to forever.
Never seeing freedom.
Got to say,
“I do, baby…”
“Do…baby”
“Do…”

If I ever get out of here,
Gonna travel far away.
Gonna fake my own kidnapping.
And a Latino man I’ll blame!
If I ever get out of here.
(If she ever gets out of here.)

Well, the news exploded with a mighty roar
All about the missing one,
And the first cop said to the second cop there,
“You think her life is done?”

Bride on the run.
Bride on the run.
And the preacher man
And groom said, “Damn!”
While searching everyone
For the bride on the run,
The bride on the run.
The bride on the run.
The bride on the run.

Well, the wedding planner drew a heavy price,
Although nothing did get done.
And the bells were silent in the village church
For the marriage never run!

Bride on the run.
Bride on the run.
And the preacher man
And groom said, “Damn!”
While searching everyone
For the bride on the run,
The bride on the run.

She’s the bride on the run.
The bride on the run.
The bride on the run.
The bride on the run.

Well, the bride was racing through the desert sand.
She couldn’t settle down.
In her state they’re searching for her everywhere.
In New Mexico she’s found!

Bride on the run.
Bride on the run.

And the Georgia judge
Did hold a grudge
And laid a heavy fine
On the bride on the run,
The bride on the run.
The bride on the run.
The bride on the run.

Might have had more of an impact 3 years ago, but still pretty good.

This deserves a 555. I feel sorry for the man she jilted. Another good parody would be to do, Where is the bride? Where is the Bride? as to the tune of Here comes the Bride. You know what I'm talking about. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Well Melanie, I must say that I this parody was very well done and you picked a topic that even those of us who have never (and in my case will never) wed can relate to. . .just wanted to say kudos on a great parody idea, and even better execution of said idea.

Very enjoyable Melanie - the mark of a good parody - I knew nothing about the story but understood it just via the parody itself :)

Yes, I remember the whole sad story...this captured it perfectly! And, what Meriadoc said.

Melanie - Oh yes I remember her well - in fact when I read this title before even opening the parody I had a feeling this is what it was going to be. This parody is extremely well done. The OS generouly lends itself to this particular parody and you saw and captured that very well. Sparkling!

Nick Zeman - I don't feel sorry for the jilted candidate for groom. In fact I think the guy is extremely lucky. Can you imagine being married to this person with the issues she apparently has? Deal me out and deal a hand of 3 fives to Melanie.
Nick Zeman - July 13, 2008 - Report this comment
It may be true that the man may have been lucky because she was NOT the best person for him. Still it is bound to hurt. Here is a philosophy I have. A man about to be married is like a player about to win a Championshio like Isaiah Thomas in 1988 with the Detroit Pistons. Yet his team loses game six in the last minute after having a 3 point lead. Then Detroit loses in Game 7 after almost coming back to win. It always hurts after coming so close but people learn to get past it and I am sure the groom has done the same thing. It is like life goes on.
