"We Are Companions"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

We've paid our dues
Time after time
Provoked legislation
But committed no crime
We've made mistakes
Hiding the truth
We told our families we're just 'roommates'
But now we're through!

(Yes, we need to come out and out and out and out)

We are companions, not 'friends'
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end!
We are companions!
We are companions!
Out of the closet
Yes, we are companions - we're in love

So what happens now?
The unreturned calls...
Mother feels "shame" and "torture" and everything that goes with it...
No love at all...
But Dad's always known it --
It's his truth too
He applauds me, for I'm doing before the whole human race
What he can't do

(He feels he can't come out and out and out and out)

We are companions, not 'friends'
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end
We are companions
We are companions
Out of the closet
Yes, we are companions - we're in love

We are companions, not 'friends'
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end
We are companions
We are companions
Out of the closet
Yes, we are companions - we're in love

Excellent. Not exactly funny, but got a 5 in the humour as a "how worthwhile" kind of statement.

Thanks, Phil (our #1 fan!). We're trying to work on more mature stuff.

Heavy-duty human story. Very well done.

Very nice. Is this autobiographical? If so, congratulations!

Ashkicksass, not exactly, but thank you!

So now you can store away all these 5s in the closet then?

Nice... another parody idea spawned from the parody I thought this was going to be. Namely, a parody about the Heralds of Valdemar, and specifically the white not-horses they ride. Oh well.

5,5,5, I think Freddie would'hve been proud!
Michael Pacholek - July 15, 2004 - Report this comment
Sweetheart, this was fabulous. But now that you've got me thinking... the group's name was "Queen," and lead singer Freddie Mercury did wear a lot of gender-bending clothing... I'm starting to wonder...
The Thought Police - July 16, 2004 - Report this comment
You know,if they did the Freddie Mercury story as a movie right now,I would think Ashton Kutcher would be perfect in the lead role(look at Freddie in the "Bohemian Rhasphody" video-he looks just like him!)

Wow, thanks Know 1, neminem, Thought Police and Michael Pacholek!

If the lead singer of Queen were to put on a naval uniform, would he known as "Sailor Freddie Mercury"?

Excellent concept, though perhaps the lyrics could use work, they're a little pressed to fit the harmony (I thought anyway, my singing might just suck) at times, and perhaps more could have been put in them. Lessee... Ol' Freddy wore womens clothing... no shirt... codpiece... Oh yeah, and the band was called Queen, so I think you're pretty well on the mark with this one. Finally, a gay song that's not bashing!

Clever...and so appropriate knowing what we know about Freddie. 545
