The Lyrics

A-levels are exams taken at age 18 in England and Wales. They suck, incidentally, and every year, no matter what the results, the media criticises them for being too easy, too hard, or just being a waste of time. This year, a quarter of them were marked with A grades, so they can't be all bad. 'Clearing' is a pool for people who didn't get good enough grades to go to their university of choice but still want to go to university. RS is Religious Studies.
A-levels, A-levels, A-levels!
I want to pass my A-levels, A-levels, A-levels!
I want to pass my A-levels
I want to get good grades
I want to pass my A-levels
I want to pass them all with As!

I take maths and it bites
Can I pass? Well I might
It's a farce, I say hey man
Trig was never my scene
And I don't like algebra
Question's hard? Well I'll guess
Pray to God? Take RS!
English Lit, write an essay
Don't waffle on but make a plan
Say that you're a Dickens fan!
All I wanna do is...

A-levels, A-levels, A-levels!
I want to pass my A-levels, A-levels, A-levels!
I want to pass my A-levels
I want to get good grades
I want to pass my...
A-level markers are going astray
So forget all your cramming, oh yeah
A quarter of tests will be marked with an A
(Cause a D stands for 'damning', oh yeah!)
Mark your name, open, start!
A-level tests, A-level tests, A-level tests
A-levels, A-levels, A-levels,
I want to pass my A-levels
A-level, A-level, A-level, A-level
A-level tests!

Chemistry? It's insane
Geography? I feel pain!
History? Was Columbus
That detective guy who solves murders in America?
You say smile, I need booze
Studying? Makes me snooze
Just relax? I'm no loser
Don't want to look so direly dull
That Clearing sends me off to Hull
All I want to do is

A-levels, A-levels, A-levels!
I want to pass my A-levels, A-levels, A-levels!
I want to pass my A-levels
I want to get good grades
I want to pass my A-levels
I want to pass them all with As!

Wow, it must be years when I took my Finnish equivalent of A-levels, but I can remember still exactly how it felt! You go, girl!

Surely you must have got somewhere better than Hull with a mind sharp enough to write a parody as good as that?

I feel the pain, I really do. Weird thing was, because I did AS Levels too, I think I'd got exam fatigue by the third results day in a row. And I too would have happily punched anyone I met who told me exams were getting easier. Can't give you any other grade than 555 - and what a great song to parody for this idea.
