The Lyrics

Yes I know Caddyshack made great comic mileage out of this golf course, but when I played there I did not see the funny side.......click here for youtube of the original song

(Let's go)

Cleared that fairway in ONE big hit
My tee shot stayed down low
Ball plonked down with an excellent sit
The green looked heavy and slow
Nice and steady, hey, there's no way I can miss
and I saw the thing preparing to fall
Out of the hole popped this little mole
...who deflected my ball
(yeah)

190 putts!
190 putts!
not 105 not 109
190 putts!
D'oh! My score extended to
190 putts!

"How d'ya think I'm gonna get it in?"
I yelled out to the mole
"Whenever my ball approaches the pin,
you whack it away from the hole!
Are you happy?
Are you satisfied?
I can't now avoid defeat
Nearly quadrupled my partner's score...
...n'mine is still incomplete"

190 putts!
190 putts!
It's a bit of a crime - got a birdie last time
(I'm starting to hate his guts)
hey, it's a club record too
190 putts!

[ ** In a tantrum I rhythmically stamp deep footprints into the bunker ** ]

190 putts!
My buds are back on the bus!
My caddy is going nuts!
How can he be so unjust?

(ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!)

There are plenty of ways that you can miss a putt
like hitting it too hard
You can hook it, you can push it, or look Britney up
if she's getting out of a car
But "offending
a malevolent mole"
is a difficult one to
foresee
Where's Bill Murray when I need him most
...could really do with some TNT

190 putts!
My putter's about to bust
and I'm wondering why th'little schmuck'd decide
that mine's the putt
to interrupt!
sheesh...and on a par three too
190 putts!

little mongrel......

Hi Stuart! I like this one..."a hundred and ninety putts" was clever. But I think this OS is actually from the 80's, cuz that's when it was popular in the states. However it could've been recorded before then, i'm not sure. One thing I am sure about, though: it deserves a 5/5/5 vote, which is what i'm giving it.
Michael Pacholek - December 12, 2007 - Report this comment
Who you callin' a putts? This was a par-5, and you made it. Pants: The song hit Number 1 in the U.S. in late 1980, so you're essentially right.

I hope you let everyone else play through. 555

one of the funniest golf parodies i've seen in here....a hole in one, in my book...(a hole in FIVE ?)

Loved the Bill Murray line, How I miss you "Caddyshack" and Rodney Dangerfield!!!

I have seen Bill M. at the PEBBLE BEACH ProAm. and I love to watch the golfers in this heavenly setting. 5-5-5.

"Or look Britney up when she's gettin' out of a car" was a great distraction. As a former golfer AND Caddyshack aficionado this was superb. I lost a crucial match with a 4-putt once. After 190 putts, some one wouldda' died lol.
Guy - December 12, 2007 - Report this comment
It takes a lot of drive to putt 190 times. I'd a sliced that little mole with my pocket knife and hooked him on my golf bag. That would really tee me off. What a little boogie. Maybe an eagle will catch him and eat him for dinner cooked in an iron skillet on a wood stove. The little putz. I bet his name was Mulligan. Yeah - Mulligan the mole. Taking the flag from number five green and sticking it into the little radial voting buttons above this comment.

You knocked this one outta the park! Oops! Wrong sport. At any rate, fives, Stu.

Awesome! The pacing fits to a tee.

ah, sorry Mr Pants, and I'm not being facetious - I've come around to understanding how distressing a wrongly-assumed decade can be to some people, and I confess I should have checked first

thanks MP, and verily tis true, dear sir, for I truly am the putz of putts

*seething* I know what I would have liked to play through, McKludge, that little........

thanks alvin - I was hoping this would be up there with other golfing parodies ;-)

thanks Matthias, John, Jack, and littlecupcakes - Caddyshack is right up there in the Pantheon of undergraduate humour is it not?

thanks Dee - then my 190 putts makes your 4 putts a pretty pathetic tale of woe then, my good friend! ;-)

thanks Guy, if I ever get my hands on that little critter, he'll be thinking those ideas of yours will seem like an afternoon at Disneyland

thanks Jonathon - I know what I'd like to knock out of the park!! (psst, do you think I might be starting to overdo this "seething with fury" thing?)

thanks Laurie - and for spotting that as-yet-unused pun! :-)

Seems like you should be after Jeff R - he's the "whack a mole" expert... but don't you think you might be making moun-tins out of molehills?

(Have you heard Jasper Carrott's "Mole" monologue? "I've got this mole, you know...")
Matthias - January 14, 2008 - Report this comment
Nothing like a good golf parody!!! See above.
Agrimorfee - January 14, 2008 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Damned funny. On the SOTM judging level, you lifted "are you happy, are you satisfied" from the OS, pacing is not 100% OTM--still good on an honorable mention level from me.
stuart mcarthur - January 14, 2008 - Report this comment
thanks Ag, but I humbly beg to differ. Managing to work an original OS line into a new context is the icing on the parody cake imho, and is parody gold (also imho) - in fact it took me ages to manouvre the storyline so that "are you happy, are you satisfied" would seem like it fit in seamlessly, and I was very proud of myself - I definitely did not expect to actually get penalised for my efforts....but you say tomato, I say watermelon, I guess

and while I'm having a self- indulgent grumble, what line or word was my pacing out on? - I was very thorough
Peregrin - January 15, 2008 - Report this comment
Hi Stu, I got here late but I liked! It's so long since I played the title could up being biographical...
McKludge - January 19, 2008 - Report this comment
SOTM - As above, and "malevolent mole" is a good dose of alliteration. Mr. Squirrel would like a word with your mole.

(SOTM Dec 2007) - Voted and commented on 12/12/07. This averages 10.5 putts per hole. What were you putting with a sledgehammer?

(SOTM) Best title sub for this OS EVER. In fact, while we're at it, best parody of this OS EVER, hands down, no question about it! A hole in 555!
Invisible Boy - January 30, 2008 - Report this comment
Lot's of great lines and images. I happen to agree with you that sometimes it's better to use a line from the OS if you can work it into a new wacky context.
Phil Alexander - January 31, 2008 - Report this comment
Ag - I'll agree with Stu about fitting in original words where they work. I thought the "are you happy? Are you satisfied?" questions fit right in with the storyline.
Kristof Robertson - January 31, 2008 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I'm such a bad golfer, I wouldn't require wildlife interference to notch up 190. Great quasi-tribute to a brilliantly dumb 80s movie; and the usual McArthur tongue-in-cheekery remains firmly in place. Bravo! 555

(SOTM) Hah. . .I'm not a golfer, but this makes me want to play Whack-a-Mole, clever clever clever Stuart, I love the idea--and I think it'd make a great recording.

Thought I commented, I know I read this because I was thinking that 190 putts was pretty low for my typical game. I am a golfer, so this did very well with me.

SOTM- Very well paced and funny, and sorry I kept thinking about Caddyshack throughout which made it all the much funnier for me. Well done, Stu.

SOTM - Having never seen Caddyshack and being totally unfamiliar with golf, this parody still really did it for me. The title itself deserves an automatic 555.

I absolutely love this song. I've seen Caddyshack, it's one of my favourite comedies. One of my favourite parts of it is where Rodney Dangerfield's character is trying to fit in with the rich snobs in the country club. Also the gopher was just sooo cute. And the classic chocolate bar in the pool scene was hillarious too.

555 hole in ones. BTW, hillarious song. Love the caddyshack reference. Caddyshack has always been a favourite comedy of mine. My favourite simpsons episode is that one where Rodney Dangerfield guest starred as Mr Burn's son Larry.

I have already commented on this pasture pool rhapsody. See above - A re-read of this parody was just as enjoyable as the first read. Well done.

190 putts, now 28 5s - you've hit a winner her, Stu. This also fits "Happy Gilmore" pretty well. I liked the yelling at the mole as well as the Britney get.

Still love it Stu. And...a fantastic way to end the ABC4 round for you. Congratulations !!!
I've always felt that golf was the best way to end a perfectly good walk.
Just a great idea...original and unique...which best describes you...
