The Lyrics

I wrote this parody for an English project on "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles. If you have never read the book I doubt it will make any sense whatsoever.
ALL: Is this a real war?
Is it a fantasy?
Can't take it no more
Losing touch with reality
LEPER: Opened my eyes
And now I realize, I see
It's a real war, boys, it's not been good to me
Cause I hid so long in this cloud
Section Eight, psycho now
Guess I'm giving up hope, doesn't really matter to me, to me

GENE: Finny, just killed you, man
No one won, and now you're dead
Guess this war was in my head
Finny, life had just begun
But now I've gone and taken yours away
Finny, ooo
I was being a crazy guy
And there was something evil deep inside me
Now you're gone, now you're gone, and I see how much you mattered

BRINKER: Too late, my time has come
But this war ain't really mine
It began before my time
Mad at everybody
They start this war
Then leave all of the fighting to the youth
GENE: Finny, ooo
LEPER: Guess I'm giving up hope
I don't wanna die
QUACKENBUSH: By now I guess you know I hate you all

LEPER: I see a little silhouetto of a hand
ALL: What are you trying to prove, we all know you're a psycho
LEPER: Section Eight is frightening, very very frightening me
ALL: Where is Devon, Where is Devon
Where is Devon, Where is Devon
Where is Devon, where'd you go
Where did Peace go?

LEPER: I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me
I'm just a poor boy, look what war's done to me
Spare me this life of such insanity
GENE: Evil thing, in my soul, will you let me go?
EVIL IMPULSE: I will not! No, I will not let you go!
GENE: Let me go!
EVIL IMPULSE: I will not! No, I will not let you go!
GENE: Let me go!
EVIL IMPULSE: I will not! No, I will not let you go!
GENE: Let me go!
EVIL IMPULSE: Will not let you go!
GENE: Let me go!
EVIL IMPULSE: Will not let you go!
GENE: Let me go!
EVIL IMPULSE: No, no, no, no, no, no, no!
JOHN KNOWLES: Oh, now I see-a, now I see-a, now I see-a, now I know
This ignorance is what causes all the wars to me
To me
To me

MR. LUDSBURY: So you think you can own me and ruin my life?
So you think you have won but above you I'll rise
Oh, baby, I'm too good for you maybe
GENE: Garden is let out
And war has been let into here

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Finny really matters
Meant a lot to me
He loved everybody
Everybody saw it but me

LEPER: Guess I'm giving up hope

Very good, Greesha. It's a risk doing a song based on a book not a lot of people have actually read, while those who have read it can talk about little else. (Brian Eno once said, "Hardly anybody bought the Velvet Underground's first album, but of those who did, nearly everyone formed a band.) But I enjoyed your song. It has a nice RING to it.

I read "A Separate Peace" and also saw the movie many years ago - good effort here!

I didn't know this existed but for johnny's comment! This is my favorite book of all time, so I enjoyed every word. Good job.

Nice. My friend wrote a song parody off of A Separate Peace with the same song. It can be found on Fanfiction.net - called the Devonian Rhapsody.
