The Lyrics

Number six of my Big Seven has a rather nice concept. I pay tribute to some (but certainly not all) of my favorite funny people. I've followed the pacing and rhythm as closely as possible...although sometimes a bit of twisting is necessary (Yes! I know it's Burns and Allen! It fits better the other way!). I wish I could have included some amiwriters in here...but that is a task for another day. ;D

"Hey, take my wife - PLEASE!",
As Henny Youngman said.
"I get no re-spect!",
For sure now that old Rodney's dead.
Allen and Burns - "Say goodnight Gra-cie!" Hee hee.
Rowan and Martin - would say "Sock it to me!".
And old Jack Benny's line - was so fine - wouldn't tell - just said "Well!"
Lenny Bruce gave them hell! Comedy's the artform I see - for me!

Drama - is too sad for me.
Joey Penner had good luck - saying "Wanna buy a duck??".
Drama? - the world's sad enough.
That's why I like Durante's funny stuff.
Drama - just go away! I'll take Weird Al's spoofs instead,
And Alan Sherman's songs - they're stuck in my head,
Like Spike Jones! Hold the phones - because old Bob Newhart is calling.
Late night - Tonight Show's gold!
Here's Johnny - fun and bold - and it ne-ver got old.
Farewell Norman Wisdom - you played you part.
You could raise the pratfall to a higher art.
Drama - never will do! Laughter wins the day!
I revel in the fine Ogden Nash word play.

(Guitar solo)

There's Abbott and Costello - doing a routine.
"Who's on first!" "Who's on first? I don't know!" "HE'S on third base!"
Hear Bugs Bunny's fun talk - saying "Eh, what's up, Doc?". Fudd:
"Kill the wabbit! Kill the wabbit! Kill the wabbitt! Something scwewy's going on!"
Haha hoho!
George Goebel said "Well I'll be a dirty bird!"
George Carlin named - T.V.'s seven dirty words.
Sam Kinnison used - many more than these.
Milton Berle - dressed like girl - takes us for a whirl.
Bob Hope had class! And Pryor kicked some *ss!
(Ha ha ho!) Phil Silvers - he played Ser-geant Bilko!
(Ha ha ho!) Sid Caesar - was on Your Show Of Shows!
(Ha ha ho!) Funny people all!
(Ha ha ho!) Don't forget Mort Sahl! Ah..........
Fun-ny is the way to go!
(Oh Jerry Lewis - do it to us!) Robin Williams - improvise!
Red Skelton has - many funny characters in store! I roar - for more!

(Guitar solo)

As Jeff Foxworthy says - "You may be a red-neck..."
I Love Lucy and Desi - it's old - what the heck!
Rip Taylor - in his fright wig - laughs that are big!
The classics of shtick - I'm roaring until I get sick!

Charlie Chaplin's movies - always fracture me.
Dear Laurel and Hardy -
More fun than a party - he he.

Thanks - I'll be here all week!

Six down and right on schedule! But...Blinded By The Light remains. They'll be no rest for the wicked until then. ;D

Thanks all. JAB - he's one of countless other deserving funny people not mentioned here. I may need to do another on the same subject! But...Blinded By The Light must be faced and slain first. ;D

Exceptionally well written--a wonderful tribute to the greats. If you ever get around to an AIR version, you *must* include yourself--prominently!
