The Lyrics

Written for the Episode III line party at Fox Studios on the 19th. If you DKTOS, it's a very moving Aussie Vietnam war song- check it out.
Me and trooper twenty
Formed up when we heard the Star Destroyers rumble
It was a long march to the ship.
The Endor legion was the one we joined, and we boarded with the Sarge
We had the Emperor, and Darth Vader on the trip

And Palpatine inspected us in rows of gleaming white.
All armed and armoured, highly trained, and raring for a fight.
He said we were the best in the Imperial machine
They called me Stormtrooper nineteen

We flew our Star Destroyer to the sanctuary moon
I've been in and out of shuttles now for months
We had our speeder bike platoon, and AT-ST walkers
And a half constructed Death Star up above.

And can you tell me doctor why I still can't get to sleep?
And why my daughter's teddy bear sends chills down to my feet?
And every time I see a pointy stick I start to scream
They called me Stormtrooper nineteen

A rebel infiltration unit came to blow the generator up
We thought they were pretty dumb.
And we had the whole lot captured before they set the charges off
So we went outside to shoot the rebel scum.

Then something called out "Yub Yub!", and I heard a trooper swear
Then all of us were set upon by fluffy teddy bears
For every one we shot there were two more to fill there shoes
They fought me
Someone wanted us to lose.

I saw trooper twenty shooting Ewoks when things went to hell
And it felt so good to blow a few to bits.
And I saw trooper twenty lying screaming in the jungle
He was armoured, but was somehow killed with sticks.

And the Empire had the very latest war technology
We were beaten cause these guys could put a rope around a tree
And with my stupid helmet on I couldn't even see.
They caught me, Stormtrooper nineteen.

And can you tell me why we couldn't fight as well as clones?
And why my helmet now is in an Ewok xylophone?
And why with all our training we just never hit a thing
They called me Stormtrooper nineteen.

......?
Guess there aren't many Aussie oldies here :)

DKTOS (or even heard of Redgum), but this is great... and something I've often thought about the poor training and useless armour that stormtroopers seem to have.

yes, here's one Aussie oldie, but although I love this OS, and Redgum (you should try parodying their Solid Rock while you're at it, Steve) - I just DK anything about Star Wars, so it goes over my head - but, based on excellent structure and fit to the OS, it's a definite 555

Having just listened to the song while putting together some stuff on Vietnam, I have to say I went from tears of sadness to tears of laughter. Well done =]
