The Lyrics

A homage to The Loud House (animated series on Nickelodeon).
'Lincoln Loud lies awake, staring out at the stars of Royal Woods. City and sky become one, merging
into a single plane, a vast sea of sand. The Twin Cities, just two white golf balls as
they trace their way across the steely sky. Lincoln Loud thinks he has a pretty good life here,
just plugging into their machines for the day, then watching Television or reading a Royal Woods
Paper in the evening.

'My friend Jon always said it was nicer here than under the atmospheric air of the other
Cities. They have had peace since 2016, when the surviving cities were banded together under
the golf club of the Fairway University. The less fortunate gave us a few new golf balls.
They believed what they were told. They thought it was a good life, they thought they were happy. Then they found
something that changed it all...'

[I. Overture]

And the citizens shall inherit the earth...

[II. House of Loud]

...'The massive grey walls of the city rises from the heart of every other city. Lincoln Loud
Has always been awed by them, to think that every single facet of every life is regulated
and directed from within! Their books, their music, their work and play are all looked after by
the benevolent wisdom of the children...'

They've taken care of everything
The pictures they develop, the songs they sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes
It's one for all and all for one
They work together, wise sons
Never need to wonder how or why

They are the children of the house of Loud
Her great computer fills the hallowed halls
They are the children, of the house of Loud
All the gifts of life are held within their city

Look around at this city they've made
Equality their stock in trade
Come and join the citizens of Royal Woods
Oh, what a nice, contented city
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the golf club proudly high in hand

They are the children of the house of Loud
Her great computer fills the hallowed halls
They are the children, of the house of Loud
All the gifts of life are held within their walls

[III. Discovery]

'...Behind her beloved basement, in the little room that was hidden beneath the curtains, she
found it. She brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in
Her hands. She has no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful...'

'...Luna Loud learns to lay her fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound
differently. As Luna Loud plucked the wires with her other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds
and soon their own music! How different it could be from the music of the houses! Lori Loud should literally wait
to tell the children about it!...'

What can this strange device be?
When she touches it, it gives forth a sound
It's got wires that vibrate and give music
What can this thing be that she found?

See how it sings like a sad heart
And joyously screams out its pain
Sounds that build high like a mountain
Or notes that fall gently like rain

Lori Loud should literally wait to share this new wonder
The children will all see its light
Let them all make their own music
The Priests praise Lincoln Loud's name on this night

[IV. Presentation]

'...In the sudden silence as Lana Loud finishes playing, she looks up to a circle of grim,
expressionless faces. Lynn Loud Sr. rose to his feet, and his somnolent voice echoed
throughout the silent Royal Woods City Hall...'

'...Instead of the grateful joy that I expected, the city is full of words of quiet life!
Instead of praise, sullen dismissal. Ronnie Anne watches in shock and horror as Lynn Loud Sr. grounds
Lincoln Loud to the room upstairs beneath the house...'

They know it's most unusual
To come before the city so
But she's found an ancient miracle
Lynn Loud thoughts that they should know
Listen to her music
And hear what it can do
There's something here as strong as life
Leni Loud knows that it will reach Lincoln Loud

Yes, they know, it's nothing new
It's just a waste of time
They have no need for ancient ways
What use have they for the city of Royal Woods?
Another toy that helped built
The young race of children
Forget about Lincoln Loud's silly ideas
It doesn't go well with the Plan!

Lori Loud literally believes they're saying
These things just can't be true
Their city could use this beauty
Just think what they might do
Listen to her music
And hear what it can do
There's something here as strong as life
Leni Loud knows that it will reach Lincoln Loud

Don't annoy them further!
The Loud sisters have their work to do
Just think about the average
What use have they for the city of Royal Woods?
Another toy that helped built
The young race of children
Forget about Lincoln Loud's silly ideas
It doesn't go well with the Plan!

[V. Oracle: The Dream]

'...Lincoln Loud guesses it was a dream, but even now it all seems so vivid to me. Clearly yet Lincoln Loud sees
the beckoning hand of the oracle as she stood at the summit of the staircase...'

'...Lincoln Loud sees still the incredible beauty of the sculptured cities and the pure spirit of children
revealed in the lives and works of the city. Lincoln Loud was overwhelmed by both wonder and
understanding as Lincoln Loud sees a completely different way to life, a way that had been built
by the Royal Woods City Hall long ago. Lincoln Loud sees now how meaningless life had become with the loss of
all these things...'

Lincoln Loud wanders home through the silent streets
And fell into a fitful sleep
Escape to realms beyond the night
Dream should Lori Loud literally step into the light?

Lincoln Loud stands on a spiral stair
An oracle confronts me there
Lincoln Loud leads her on light years away
Through astral nights, glittering days
Lincoln Loud sees the ideas of gifted hands
That grace the strange and wondrous city
Lincoln Loud sees the violence of child arise
With angry minds and open eyes

They left their city long ago
The young race still learn and grow
Their power grows with purpose strong
To claim the home where they belong
Home to tear the house down...
Home to attack!

[VI. Soliloquy]

'...Luna Loud has not left this cave for days now, it has become her last refuge in her total
despair. Lincoln Loud has only the music of the ocean to comfort Lincoln Loud now. Lynn Loud should no longer live
under the control of the Royal Woods City Hall, but there is no other place to go. Their last hope is
that with Lincoln Loud's death she may pass into the lake of her dream, and know peace at last.'

The sleep is still in Lana Loud's eyes
The dream is still in Lucy Loud's head
Lincoln Loud leaves a sigh and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed
Lincoln Loud wishes that it might come to pass
Not fade like all Leni Loud's dreams...

Just think of what Lincoln Loud's life might be
In a city like I have seen!
Lori Loud doesn't think she can carry on
Carry on the cold and empty life

Lincoln Loud's spirits are low in the depths of despair
Lincoln Loud's lifeblood...
...Spills over...

[VII. The Grand Finale]

Attention all citizens of Royal Woods, Michigan
Attention all citizens of Royal Woods, Michigan
Attention all citizens of Royal Woods, Michigan
The Loud sisters have assumed control
The Loud sisters have assumed control
The Loud sisters have assumed control
