The Lyrics

Thanks to Paul Robinson for reminding me of Steve Miller songs.
Nonsmokers say we do annoy, yeah
'Cause that fresh air they do so love
Some peeps would call the po-lice
Because they get furious, my love.

People talk about us, babe
Say they all must be wrong, they are all wrong
Well, I don't worry babe
No worry
It's crystal clear, they are, sincere, no need to frown.

Ahh, smoke is thicker
Air is thinner
Smoke does hover
After my dinner
I smoke my ciggies one by one.

He's nonsmoker
I'm a smoker
I'm a rambling bloker
Don't ever mean to hurt no one.

Ahh, smoke is thicker
Air is thinner
Smoke does hover
After my dinner
I smoke my ciggies one by one.

He's nonsmoker
I'm a smoker
I'm a rambling bloker
Don't ever mean to hurt no one.

*cough* *cough*

-instrumental-

The pack that I bring
Oh, that I brought with me
They really love their speeches
Want to convert me
Smoking coveys, smoking coveys, smoking coveys it's no crime
Ooo (hack) eee maybe, cig. does glow all of the time.

Ahh, smoke is thicker
Air is thinner
Smoke does hover
After my dinner
I smoke my ciggies one by one.

He's nonsmoker
I'm a smoker
I'm a rambling bloker
Don't ever mean to hurt no one.

Ahh, smoke is thicker
Air is thinner
Smoke does hover
After my dinner
I smoke my ciggies one by one.

He's nonsmoker
I'm a smoker
I'm a rambling bloker
Don't ever mean to hurt no one.

*cough* *cough*

-instrumental-

People keep yakking to me babe
Say my lungs they ain't that strong
X-ray is blurry, I worry, I scurry to mama
But I light up at home.

The packs that I love that I brought with me
They really love their speeches want to convert me.....

(fade, coughing and trying to sing)

So difficult to quit! WM gave up smoking. I've not been able to stop completely. That after dinner smoke, is the most difficult one to give up. So I giving you 5-5-5 . I feel your pain! =)

Nice internal rhyme. This one really smokes.

Thanks, guys. I gave up smoking long ago, but I still remember when one would go best, like after dinner.

I think it's hard to parody this song, cuz it just flows so naturally, I don't think there's any actual "pacing"...I hope someone else knows what I'm tryin to say. Anyway, I guess the point of that rambling is that some spots in here just seem too clunky and forced. As a guy who's never smoked (save for 2 attempts at a puff when I was 13) I can't say I feel your pain. Nice effort, but I just don't think this is one of your best.

Thanks Karlando

Great parody Pat. My oldest brother and I smoked cigars together last Sunday - mmmm, delicious, but for about two days afterward my mouth tasted like the bottom of the gorilla cage in the National Zoo. I much prefer the taste of the bottom of the gorilla cage in the San Diego Zoo.

JD - Do you usually go around tasting things?
Adagio - February 13, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Johnny! Yea..exactly how WOULD you know how they taste?
Johnny D - February 13, 2004 - Report this comment
Oh Guy and Adagio, Guy and Adagio, Guy and Adagio!!! I included that line about San Diego to humorously head-off the expected gorilla-cage-tasting comments..... No, I do NOT go around tasting things, especially not gorilla cages. However, some orang-utan cages do have a rather smoky organic flavor....kind of like a rancid McDonald's hamburger marinated in bull semen.

Johnny....that description makes me want to bleh. You have good descriptions!

You're welcome, Diva!

As an Amiright Public Service, here is some additional disgusting, gross, nauseating incentive to quit smoking..... my anti-smoking parody "Dripping Wet With Pee (So Hard To Light)":

Adagio - Excellent! Take 3 puffs on a "Five" and then try not to start hacking them back up. I smoked cigarettes on exactly one occasion in my entire life - I guess I was about 19; I was with some friends and they went to get something at the store while I hung out listening to sounds. They took much longer than I anticipated and I was getting bored waiting on them. One of them had left an open pack of Marlboro's on the table and I decided to try it. I must have chain-smoked about 7 or 8 (inhaling much more deeper than one should on a cigarette - I had it confused with another thing that one might have smoked around 1969), anyway, the only things that made me feel were nauseau, a sore throat, and a headache. Never again since.
