The Lyrics

On the eve of Christmas Eve, I was introduced to an anime series known as "Tokyo Ghoul", based off the manga of the same name. It follows Ken Kaneki, an ordinary college student whose life gets flipped turned upside-down when he is attacked by a creature known as a "ghoul", which looks human but feeds on human flesh. He survives, but is turned into a half-ghoul when the surgeons splice a few organs from the ghoul who attacked him into his own body. Now, he must try to live a normal life and adapt to the ghoul lifestyle. The whole series is available on Hulu if you're interested in checking it out. Be advised, however, that the series is VERY GORY, VERY FRIGHTENING, and contains some bad language. If you've got the stomach, however, you'll find it to be quite an engaging series. A third season, titled "Tokyo Ghoul:re" is set to premiere later in 2018. Enjoy the parody!
I’m just a guy who’s an impurity,
I should not have even survived.
I’m just a poor soul who saw his life’s enjoyment die,
My god, why am I alive?

My mother and father worked themselves to death,
Hide[1] is my only friend.
But I’m not a goner; I’m not giving up,
I’ll find a happier end.

I’ll take this shook-up, unraveling world,
Doing my best at Anteiku[2].
If it takes all that to keep all my cool,
Well, I’m gonna be a Tokyo Ghoul.

Make me a mask that fits like a glove,[3]
Make me undetectable, man
This is my last time seeing my enjoyment die,
So like it or not…

I’ll take this shook-up, unraveling world,
Keeping away from those damn doves.[4]
If it takes all that to keep all my cool,
Well, I’m gonna be a Tokyo Ghoul.

If I must feast on some normal food
When human flesh is only a heartbeat away,
Choke it down, and coffee will chase it around.[5]
I throw it up, and baby, I’m already scared.

[guitar solo]

I’ll take this shook-up, unraveling world,
Keeping away from those damn doves.
If it takes all that to keep all my cool,
Well, I’m gonna be a Tokyo Ghoul.
Now don’t be a fool!

[synthesizer solo]

I’ll take this shook-up, unraveling world,
Doing my best at Anteiku.
If it takes all that to keep all my cool,
Well, I’m bound to be a Tokyo…
Gotta be a Tokyo…
Gonna be a Tokyo Ghoul.

All right!
[1]-Pronounced "Hee-day", a reference to Hideyoshi Nagechika, Ken Kaneki's childhood friend.
[2]-Pronounced "On-tay-koo", the cafe where Kaneki works.
[3]-All ghouls have masks made for them.
[4]-Refers to the investigators from the CCG, an anti-ghoul agency.
[5]-Aside from human flesh, coffee is the only human food that ghouls can enjoy.
