The Lyrics

A writer strives to see the view from other vantage points. As such, I was pondering the weapons search through the eyes of a US soldier in Iraq who had believed with all his heart and soul that the weapons were there and had lost his best friend to the war. What thoughts might pass through the mind of that young soldier as he moves through the stages of grief while dealing with the frustration and disappointment of a fruitless weapons search? This is his song.
I search for weapons in the sand
I cannot rest til I uncover them
I'm gonna search through the debris
Kick the rubble, sniff the breeze
Til they're found, I'll have no peace

Good-bye my friend I watched you die
You'll always be a hero in my eyes
And that you're gone, it isn't fair
What you fought for wasn't there
I wish that you could have been spared

Fought the war, and we won
Now we're looking for wea-pons
But the ones that we find
Aren't the mass destruction kind

Just yesterday, we found a tree
We proved they had stick man-u-fac-turing
A gravel pit (now don't be shocked)
Evidence of making rocks
Made me tremble to my socks

What we found next, we scarse believed
A million straws and lots of bags of peas
Black Flag and Raid, a hundred cans
Farmer matches, rubber bands
Deadly in their evil hands

Waged a war and we won
Now we're searching for wea-pons
Didn't find them, they're gone
We can't even find Saddam

Waged a war and we won
Now we're searching for wea-pons
Didn't find them, they're gone
We can't even find Saddam

Oh Georgie-boy, what have you done
You said he had the weapons, ton by ton
But all the weapons we have found
Are a joke, his hands were bound
Oh, when we beat that mother down

Can't find a thing, was it a lie?
When Duhbull-yew said that's what we would find
Can't find the weapons anywhere
Got Iraqis in my hair
Saying they don't want me there

Fought the war and we won
Now we're searching for wea-pons
We were armed to the teeth
When we put them under seige

Fought the war and we won
Now we're searching for wea-pons
We were armed to the teeth
When we put them under seige

Waged a war and we won
Now we're searching for wea-pons
Didn't find them, they're gone
We can't even find Saddam

Not surprised that we won
'Gainst their primitive wea-pons
Cuz the ones we could find
Weren't the mass destruction kind

The good news is that this gets a perfect score. The bad news is, it's all true. The good news is, because it's true, Bush will suffer. The bad news is, we can't make him suffer for it for another 18 months.

No one can deny the pain of a loss of a friend. Dosen't matter what your political views are. A well done parody, even though I do not agree with some of the content.

"Farmer matches, rubber bands/Deadly in their evil hands" - Exquisite. Still very appropriate... I can't see why people are disagreeing, in that there's a lot of truth in this one.

I pretty much agree with this one. Bush/Blair said Iraq could launch a chemical/nuclear (not nuculer, as Bush would say) attack in 45 minutes. Those Iraqis must be awfully crafty to be able hide everything so that the US has found nothing.

Thanks everyone! Glad you enjoyed it. I almost didn't submit this one, but I've received such great comments from so many of the amiright artists whose skills/talent I most admire, that I'm really glad I did.
