The Lyrics

For over a century the NCAA has disallowed their student athletes to accept pay or other extra benefits while competing at their member schools in any sport. Those found to be breaking the rules have had to forfeit or in more recent times, vacate their results. The NCAA rules have come under fire as being hypocritical, seeing as the association, along with many coaches and their TV partners (among others), make tons of money off of college sports, especially football and basketball - but the student-athletes are not allowed to see any money until they get into the pros, and that's even if they make it into the pros. It has gotten to the point where for the first time ever, a major scandal has resulted in a school vacating a men's Division I basketball title - Louisville, who had to vacate their 2013 title, amidst an FBI probe into the entire sport of college basketball. Where will it end? The only way it will end correctly is if the NCAA starts paying its student-athletes. I wouldn't have written this parody if I did not feel so strongly about this.
Do you know who makes a lot of money?
The NCAA you see
Speaking words of wisdom
Play for pay

But none of it goes to the athletes
It all to the coaches and also it goes to TV
Speaking words of wisdom
Play for pay

Let them play, play for pay
Let them play, yeah, play for pay
Whisper words of wisdom
Play for pay

And you know that the broken-hearted
Louisville Cardinals fans agree
This must be the answer
Play for pay

For this is now the future, we must
Get everyone here to agree
This must be the answer
Play for pay

Let them play, play for pay
Let them play, yeah, play for pay
Yeah, this must be the answer

(Chorus 1)

(Guitar solo)

(Chorus 1)

And the athletes must unite now
They must fight for all that they deserve
Take a stand for their tomorrow
Play for pay

Donald Trump must also do his part too
Refuse the NCAA permission
To hold events in Washington until
Play for pay

(Chorus 2 X2)

(Chorus 1)
