The "Pachelbel Progression" - I-V-vi-iii-IV-I-IV-V - is one of the ubiquitous musical progressions, along with Donald Duck Progression (I-vi-IV-V), Andalusian Cadence (vi-V-IV-III7) and Four Chords of Pop (I-V-vi-IV). The Pachelbel's Canon is an earworm of the worst kind. The progression is named after Johann Pachelbel's "Canon in D Major", and I noted some times ago that Let It Be follows it. Sigh...

I once saw an advertisement in a magazine for a record of the month club mail order promotion. As an introductory offer, they would send you a disk of Pachelbel's Canon in D Minor, which they described as one of the most relaxing musical compositions of all time. Allegedly, if a radio station played it, people would call to find out what it was. Used as theme music in several movies. It does have a calming effect. Have you ever heard The English Congregation "Softly Whispering 'I Love You'"? Sounds like Joe Cocker walked in on the recording session to break it up.

I agree! I appreciate all the comments and feedback - they mean me more than any votes. Only the comments can really tell if I have succeeded or not, and it is a kind of a social occassion to discuss over the song within the comments. I always allow commenting.

When my late mom-in-law had her funeral services last summer, we chose Pachelbel's Canon as the last musical piece on the services. It has very calming and optimistic atmosphere, celebrating a fully lived life with hope of seeing again.

Utter BS as all writers have made mistakes, even the best in the world which Spellcheck is guaranteed- NOT. Are you suggesting that consistently correct spelling and grammar are foolish? And do you stupidly advocate the interchangeability of "principle" and "principal"? Obviously, the closest you ever got to Emerson was the table radio of that name. Now get off my back, illiterate fool!

So many times I craft a line or a clever word play to see if I can get a reaction. Now I see that all I had to do was misspell a word. I'll remember that the next time, or maybe not.
