This is cute and clever! The pacing was slightly off - but that is EXACTLY how Gollum would do it (e.g. "Tricksy Little Hobbits" would fit the syllable count, but Gollum wouldn't say it that way!) so I gave you fives across the board. Great song choice and well exexuted!

It left me feeling sorry for Gollum! By the way, Steve Earle was quoted in the Jan. 04 issue of Classic Rock as being a Tolkien geek. In their 24/7 column he said he was looking forward to getting The Two Towers on DVD, though the earlier tapes of the BBC adaption didn't go down too well with his children. He said 'Gollum is not bedtime material'.

Arwen, Know original, the Carpenter's happen to be the only group that we could play a VCR tape of and have my Father & Step-Mother, Brothers, myself, niece and nephew all enjoy. Dad's 88, I play something I "think" he might like 'cause it's mellow once in a while and he says "well that's nice, but it's really not my type of music". A month or so ago we were watching some show with Rod Stewart doing his retro thing with old songs and my Dad goes, somewhat wistfully, "I remember this song from way back"...then he watches Stewart perform it and says in a non-irritated, matter-of-fact voice "This guy does a lousy job of it". I had to start cracking up..."Yes, he really does, doesn't he, Dad?".

I still haven't seen any of the rings. Guess I'll wait until the last one comes out on video and watch all three in a marathon. Then maybe I can start doing some LOTR parodies. Great parody though Arwen. I score 5's even though I cannot appreciate the message and innuendo.

Guy, Do you get the feeling we are being indoctrinated here by a rather clever, wily, cute, short, clumsy, elf? Could she also be part "Borg", because I'm starting to get the feeling that "Resistance is Futile". Hmmm...I suppose I could think of worse fates...

Okay...is a Borg something to do with Star Trek? If so, there will be no mixing of the geeky obsessions, mister! While it's true that my powers of persuasion are unrivaled, and that resistance will, most likely, be futile...I must insist that all references to me are Star Trek free. Arwen, well at least I found something from that last 20 or so years that I KNOW about that you don't. I'm amazed. But don't worry, not a "Trekkie", although I did watch the versions that introduced the Borg and the "Voyager" spin-off (had to watch "Borg-Babe" because, well...resistance to looking at Jeri Ryan in that incredibly tight outfit was just completely futile. But also watched because I thought it was pretty interesting and mostly well done. But it would be illogical for me to dwell on it; the last "Trek"-based show they tossed out there was (or still is) positively pitiful. But it looks like you've made the sale here. Probably see if I can rent the 1st part of "LOTR" some evening next week and see if I can get down and dig the Middle-Earth scene...

Hooray! I am very confident that you won't be disappointed. And if you are...watch it again. Not kidding. It gets better each and every time...=) And by the way...my oldest brother is a big Star Trek fan...but I've never sat through even an episode...let alone one of the movies. Still...I somehow knew that is what you were referring to with the Borg comment...I like to think that I'm just plain brilliant...but it might have been luck...; )

Arwen - I'm still trying to figure out why "I never sat..." is all that wrong. Maybe not the SLICKEST wordsmithing you've done lately but it's not any more incoherent than I am right now. I must be freaking nuts! I have to get up in about 6 hours and then drive down to San Jose later in the morning. I spent way too much time trying to post an Avril Lavigne parody, of all things, but I think it came out real well. Trouble with both this PC, the Internet and the "amiright.com" site. I should have called it off but since I might not post for a while I wanted to get the finished stuff in. If you know Lavigne's stuff check it out, ok? I may be on briefly in the morning again but then may be mostly incommunicado for almost a week. Might find someone in L.A. I can bug enough to let me on-line for a brief bit of time. Past YOUR bedtime? This is going to make me really stupid in the morning when I'm trying to make sure I'm not forgetting anything for my return trip from vacation. Oh, well.....there's always FEDEX, right?
